In the 2018 assembly elections, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now known as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)) won 88 seats, and TRS got an overwhelming majority in the 119-member assembly. The Congress party could achieve success in only 19 seats. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won seven seats, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won two seats, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) won one assembly seat each. Was. In this assembly election, TRS got 46.87 percent votes, while the main opposition party Congress could get 28.43 percent votes and Bharatiya Janata Party candidates could get 6.98 percent votes.

    Before the formation of Telangana as a separate state, it used to be a part of Andhra Pradesh state. In fact, in the year 2014, shortly before the formation of a separate state, assembly elections were held in Andhra Pradesh, in which 63 TRS candidates won the elections and became MLAs. Even after the formation of the new state, TRS had the required numbers to form the government in the 119-member Telangana Assembly, hence, on this basis, TRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) became the first Chief Minister of Telangana.

    It is noteworthy that since the formation of Telangana, K. Chandrashekhar Rao is the Chief Minister of the state, and Congress is the main opposition party in the state. Of the 119 assembly seats in Telangana state, 88 seats are for general candidates, i.e. unreserved, while 19 seats in the state are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates and 12 assembly seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. Telangana is geographically surrounded by Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh in the northern direction, Karnataka in the western direction and Andhra Pradesh in the southern and eastern directions.

  • BJP releases first list of candidates for Telangana elections, fields 3 MPs

    Telangana BJP Candidate List: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has completed its preparations for the assembly elections to be held in Telangana (Telangana Elections 2023). Under this, today i.e. on Sunday, BJP has released the first list of 52 out of 119 candidates for Telangana Assembly Elections. The party has also fielded three of its MPs including former Telangana state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar in the assembly elections.

    After canceling the suspension of leader T Raja Singh, who was suspended from the party a few days ago, BJP has fielded him from Gausmahal seat.

    The decision was taken in the CEC meeting chaired by PM Modi.

    These names were finalized in the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting held on Friday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The party has fielded former Telangana state president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar from Karimnagar assembly constituency, Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri from Koratla assembly constituency and Adilabad MP Soyam Babu Rao from Boath assembly constituency.
