  • Prashant Kishor To Launch New Political Party In Bihar’s Patna On October 2 |

Patna, Bihar – Poll strategist Prashant Kishor and chief of the Jan Suraaj campaign, is set to unveil his political party on October 2, providing a fresh alternative to the electorate of Bihar. The official launch will take place at a grand event at the veterinary college ground in Patna, where Kishor will reveal the party’s name, its constitution, and introduce a 25-member leadership team, including the designated party president.

Kishor, known for his innovative approaches to election management, has made it clear that he will not assume any official position within the new party. Instead, he will continue to focus on his ongoing “Padyatra,” a foot march that has garnered significant attention and is expected to conclude in Supaul before moving into Araria post-launch.

Sources indicate that the Jan Suraaj campaign anticipates a massive turnout, aiming for as many as 50 lakh supporters at the foundation event. This ambitious gathering underscores Kishor’s commitment to challenging the entrenched political landscape in Bihar, which has been dominated for decades by figures like Lalu Prasad Yadav, Nitish Kumar, and the BJP.

Having roots in Rohtas district and belonging to the Brahmin community, Kishor is particularly vocal about moving beyond the traditional caste and religion-based politics that have characterized the state’s political scene. Over the past two years, he has been meticulously building a political base, positioning himself as a formidable challenger to established political leaders.

Kishor’s journey began with a ‘Padyatra’ from the Bhitirahwa Gandhi Ashram in West Champaran. Initially planning to cover 35,000 kilometers, he has since extended that goal to 45,000 kilometers and has now walked over 55,000 kilometers. His extensive outreach has primarily focused on North Bihar, where he has traversed through various districts, including West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Madhubani, Begusarai, Khagaria, and Supaul. After October 2, he plans to continue his journey into Araria.

Through this extensive grassroots engagement, Kishor aims to connect directly with the electorate, presenting his new political movement as a viable alternative to the established political powers in the region. As the launch date approaches, all eyes will be on Kishor and the Jan Suraaj campaign, marking a potential turning point in Bihar’s political landscape.

  • ‘Injustice Against Bahujans’: Rahul Gandhi Hits Out At NDA Leaders On Nawada Incident |

After a shocking incident in which many houses were set ablaze by unidentified miscreants in Bihar’s Nawada, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday hit out at the BJP alliance government in Bihar and said that they suppress the Bahujans of India so that they cannot even demand their social and constitutional rights. He claimed that the Prime Minister’s silence on the matter serves as a “seal of approval” for this significant conspiracy.

The incident took place under the Mufassil Police Station area in Krishnanagar in Bihar’s Nawada.

“Burning down an entire colony of Mahadalits in Nawada and destroying the houses of more than 80 families is highlighting the horrifying picture of injustice against the Bahujans in Bihar. The cries of the Dalit families who had lost their homes and property and the terror created in the deprived society by the echo of the fierce firing were also not successful in waking up the sleeping government of Bihar,” Rahul Gandhi wrote in a post on X.

  • Union Minister Smells ‘Conspiracy’ In Bihar Bridge Collapse, Says After Lok Sabha Polls… |

As the frequent reports of bridge collapses in Bihar are raising concerns among residents about the quality of development work in the state, now, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, also former Bihar Chief Minister, has responded to the issue by raising the possibility of a conspiracy behind the incidents.

In the past nine days, five bridges in Araria, Siwan, East Champaran, Kishanganj, and Madhubani districts of have collapsed in Bihar.

Reflecting on the matter, Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Manjhi on Saturday asserted that poor-quality materials might have been used but why these collapses did not occur earlier, asking if there could be a conspiracy behind the recent incidents.

“It is a matter of concern that bridges are collapsing (in Bihar). It looks as if poor-quality material might have been used. But why were the bridges not collapsing before 15 days or a month ago? Why are they collapsing now? Is there a conspiracy behind it?” Manjhi said while addressing the media.

The MSME minister was talking to media when he suggested that the repeated bridge collapses could be a deliberate effort to discredit and tarnish the reputation the government.

Claiming there to be a motive behind these events, he said, “These things are being done on purpose to tarnish the image of the government. Bridges are collapsing continuously, I think there is intention behind this.”

The Union Minister affirmed that the government is implementing stringent actions against the contractors and engineers accountable for the bridge collapses.

Chronological Order Of Recent Bridge Collapses In Bihar

The series of bridge collapses began on June 18 in Araria, where a newly constructed bridge over the Bakra River collapsed before its inauguration. Subsequently, another collapse occurred on June 22 over the Gandak River in Siwan, a bridge that had been standing for approximately 40-45 years.

The incidents continued with a collapse on June 23 of a bridge under construction in East Champaran, where locals attributed the failure to the use of inferior materials. On the following day, another bridge fell in Kishanganj. The most recent collapse took place in Madhubani, occurring just a day after the Kishanganj incident.

Notably, last year in June, a temporary bridge on the River Ganga in Vaishali suffered partial collapse due to strong winds, connecting Raghopur to the Vaishali District Headquarters.
