  • Assembly Election: Congress MP Criticises BJP, Says ‘They Brought Haryana To The Top In Unemployment, Corruption’ |

New Delhi: As political tensions with the announcement of the Assembly polls date in Haryana, Congress MP Deepemder Singh Hooda has sharply criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that the party is undermining the state’s development and positioning Haryana as the leading state in the country for unemployment, drug addiction, crime, and corruption.

While addressing Congress’ “Haryana Mange Hisaab” rally at Ambala Cantonment on Sunday, the Rohtak MP targeted the current Haryana government and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and asserted that the BJP had made numerous announcements but failed to implement any of them.

Hooda said, “These announcements are either false and cannot be implemented, or the party never intended to implement these schemes.”

Regarding preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections, Hooda added, “In the last few days, I have visited about 50 assembly constituencies, and the overwhelming sentiment is clear: the BJP government is on its way out, and the Congress government is coming in,” ANI reported.

Commenting on Haryana’s law and order situation, Hooda highlighted that a report released by the Government of India indicates Haryana now has the highest crime rate in the country.

Earlier, Congress MP Randeep Surjewala accused the BJP-led Haryana government of misleading the state’s residents in the lead-up to the October assembly elections.

“The 10-year tenure of atrocities under the Bharatiya Janata Party has come to an end. In the last 10 years, no class has been spared from being cheated by the BJP,” Surjewala said.

He said that the defeat in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections was discussed and described the Moily Committee report as important. Changes will be made in the organization of Chhattisgarh on the basis of this report.

Regarding the change in the organisation, Singhdeo said that the national leadership will decide on it. He stressed that our focus is on working collectively and I am ready to fulfill any responsibility given by the party. Former minister Dhanendra Sahu also gave a statement on the meeting of the Congress Fact Finding Committee in Delhi. He said that in the Moily Committee meeting, there was a one-to-one discussion on the reasons for the defeat in the elections. • Deputy CM Sao took a dig at Congress’s Samvidhaan Yatra on the day of BJP’s Tiranga Yatra, said- Congress can copy, patriotism is a pretense…

Raipur. Politics has heated up in Chhattisgarh these days over BJP’s Tiranga Yatra. BJP is going to celebrate Partition Horror Memorial Day on 14th August, a day before Independence Day, regarding the partition of the country. For this, BJP is continuously running the Har Ghar Tiranga program. On this day, BJP will take out Tiranga Yatra in different assembly constituencies. On the other hand, Congress is going to take out Samvidhan Yatra on this day. There is a round of attack and counter-attack between the ruling and opposition parties regarding these Yatras.

Deputy CM Arun Saw took a jibe at Congress for taking out Samvidhaan Yatra on the day of Tiranga Yatra and said that Congress has lost its relevance. BJP is working to increase respect and pride through different schemes. Congress can copy, but their patriotism is a pretense. Congress has harmed India, BJP is going to take out Tiranga Yatra with great pomp and show.

At the same time, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao countered Deepak Baij’s statement of “taking out the Tiranga Yatra from the main branch of Nagpur” and said that Congress leaders have already received an explanation for their statements, Congress keeps playing the same old tape. The public knows that we are people who work in the interest of the country. Congress has always ignored the interest of the country in front of the interest of one family (Gandhi family), that is why Congress is in such a bad condition today.

There is a meeting of the Moily Committee of Congress in Delhi today. Regarding this meeting of Congress, Deputy CM Sao said that during the 5 years of Congress government in Chhattisgarh, the public interests were violated, every section of Chhattisgarh was harassed and troubled, the people of Chhattisgarh were looted. Now there is going to be a fight over the defeat and it will happen in the future too.

Apart from this, regarding the closure report file in the Antagarh tape scandal case, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw said that everyone knows very well to what extent the Congress can go for power.

  • South Assembly seat by-election: MLA Rajesh Munat took a dig at Congress, said- no matter how many big faces are fielded, BJP will win

Nitin Namdev, Raipur. There is a lot of activity in the political corridors regarding the by-election on Raipur South Assembly seat of Chhattisgarh. The ruling party and the opposition are giving statements regarding the election in this seat. They are also claiming their respective victories. At the same time, West MLA Rajesh Munat has given a statement on the fast preparation of Congress for the South Assembly elections. He said that no matter how many big faces the Congress fields, a simple worker of BJP will win.

While talking to the media, West MLA Rajesh Munat said that the date of election in Raipur South Assembly seat has not been announced yet. BJP is a party based on organization and workers. Party workers remain in touch with the common people 24 hours a day, the party remains active through programs. Wherever BJP contests elections, whoever gets the lotus symbol will win. Now, a door-to-door tricolor program is going to be held at every booth. From 11 to 15, people will be made aware by going door to door. It is important for us that the public should get the benefit of the public welfare schemes of the state. No matter how many big faces Congress fields, a simple worker of BJP will win.

On the Congress’ debt statement, Rajesh Munat said that the BJP is worried about running the state. We made Chhattisgarh, we will improve it. How much debt did the Congress take is in front of everyone. It is a double engine government, it has just been formed. It has been seven months since the government came to power. Congress has started suffering, it should not worry.

On the question raised by Bhupesh Baghel on the cow policy of the state government, Rajesh Munat said that Bhupesh Baghel should turn the page of his tenure. What was the condition of the Gauthan? The Panchayat of the state was made a pasture for the party. Even today the Sarpanch is sad about where the money went. Crores and billions of rupees were spent in the name of Rajiv Mitan Club and left. Sports was not promoted but the Congress leaders definitely filled their pockets. I have given a living example of this in the assembly.

  • Waqf Board’s Unlimited Powers To Be Trimmed; Asaduddin Owaisi Smells Conspiracy |

The opposition might be in for a shock with the NDA government’s next move. It was anticipated that the BJP would play safe on the back foot. However, the Modi government is now bringing a bill that might be another bone of contention between the ruling alliance and the opposition INDIA bloc. The Centre is likely to table in Parliament a Bill to amend the 1995 law governing Waqf boards. The move is aimed at trimming the unlimited powers assigned to the waqf boards and ensuring more accountability and transparency in their functioning. The bill will also propose mandatory inclusion of women in these bodies.

    ‘Hindutva Agenda’: Opposition

While the government has claimed that the demand for reform came from within the Muslim community, the opposition has smelled a conspiracy behind the move. AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that it shows that the Modi government wants to snatch away the autonomy of the board and intends to interfere in its functioning. “I can say that whatever has been written in the media about this proposed amendment shows that the Modi government wants to take away the autonomy of the Waqf Board and it wants to interfere. This itself is against the freedom of religion.”

The Hyderabad MP also alleged that the BJP has been against these boards and Waqf properties from the very beginning and they have been working on a ‘Hindutva agenda’. “Now if you make amendments to the establishment and composition of the Waqf board, then there will be administrative chaos, loss of autonomy of the Waqf board and if the control of the government increases over the Waqf Board, then the independence of Waqf will be affected. In the media report, it is written that if there is any disputed property, then these people will say that the property is disputed, and we will get it surveyed. The survey will be conducted by the BJP, CMs and you know what will be its result. There are many such dargahs in our India where BJP-RSS claims that they are not dargahs and mosques, so the executive is trying to snatch the power of the judiciary,” he added.

Congress leader Naseem Khan also reacted sharply to the development saying the move won’t be tolerated. “The rules of the Waqf Board are very clear. Once a Waqf, always Waqf. The current Waqf Act protects the properties of the Waqf. The Waqf properties can be used for the welfare of the Muslim community. If the central government is planning on intervening in the Waqf board by bringing amendments to the Waqf Act to exercise their right to Waqf properties, it will not be tolerated,” Naseem Khan said.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) also urged allies of the NDA and opposition parties to “completely reject any such move” and not allow such amendments to be passed in Parliament.

What Is The New Waqf Act Bill?

The Bill to amend the Wakf Act, 1995, will mandate that Waqf boards register their properties with district collectors to ensure accurate valuation. India has 30 Waqf boards, and reports estimate that the annual revenue from all Waqf properties is around Rs 200 crore, which seems disproportionate to the number of properties they hold.

Initially, Waqf boards managed about 52,000 properties across India. By 2009, this number had grown to 300,000 registered properties covering four lakh acres. Currently, there are 872,292 Waqf properties spanning over eight lakh acres. Sources emphasize that revenue generated from these properties can only be used for the welfare of the Muslim community.

The amendment Bill, featuring 40 changes to the current law, might be introduced in the ongoing Parliament session. The government intends to pass the Bill promptly. Key changes include verifying land before it is designated as Waqf property. Fresh verification of disputed lands claimed by various state boards will also be sought, according to the proposed bill. The changes with regard to the composition of the Waqf boards will ensure the inclusion of women in these bodies.

    BJP, Government’s Defence

As per reports, the recommendations of the Justice Sachar Commission and the joint committee of Parliament headed by K Rahman Khan had suggested a few of the reasons for amending the law. In the past, some Muslim high court judges had flagged that the decision taken by Waqf boards cannot be challenged in court. Now, the amendment bill seeks to set that right.

Senior BJP leader Dinesh Sharma said Bohra and other members of the Muslim community have raised the issue of anomalies by Waqf boards. The main reason behind this is that there have been complaints against Waqf boards, made for benefitting the minorities, being involved in other works, he claimed.

“Demand for improvement in Waqf board is not new, it has been going on for the past 30-40 years. Those who are raising this demand and affected by it are Muslims themselves. There is a need for betterment in the Waqf board and I hope Samajwadi Party, Congress and TMC will support it (the Bill), whenever it is introduced,” said BJP leader Ajay Alok. (With agency inputs)

  • Congress MLA, Son Booked For Abetting Suicide Of Sub Inspector In Karnataka |

YADGIR: A case was registered by the police against Congress MLA Channareddy Tannur and his son Pampanagouda Tannur on Saturday after a Dalit sub-inspector allegedly died by suicide, following his transfer within seven months of posting. The MLA and his son were booked on charges of intentional insult with an intent to provoke breach of peace, abetment of suicide and joint criminal liability on a complaint by Parusharam’s wife Shwetha N V. She alleged that the father-son duo had allegedly demanded Rs 30 lakh from her husband if he wished to continue in the same place.

Shwetha said Parashuram was in tears ever since he was transferred and told her that he felt suicidal. When Shwetha, who is pregnant, went to Raichur to her parents’ house for the delivery of her child, she got to know that Parashuram was hospitalised with bleeding from his nose and mouth. Following the incident, members of the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) staged a demonstration blocking the road demanding justice for Parashuram. Shwetha too joined the agitators. Addressing media, she said the police department was supporting the MLA and not her husband.

“The department itself is not with him today. Instead it is supporting the MLA. It supports the one who squanders money. It pays money to him and supports him. How much money you want to feed him? Will you rear an MLA? Do you toil day and night ignoring your parents and family for an MLA? This MLA is responsible for it but he has not come here yet. I want an FIR. We want justice,” Shwetha said Traffic was badly affected due to the agitation. Reacting to the incident, Home Minister G Parameshwara said that he has ordered a thorough investigation into the case. He, however, ruled out that it was a suicide.

“He (Parashuram) did not commit suicide. He had not written any death note. His wife has complained that she was suffering from the transfer issue. I will consider his allegation. Investigation will be done in that dimension,” the Minister told reporters in Bengaluru. He said that the police were collecting preliminary information and conduct an investigation. The incident took a political turn with opposition BJP and the JD(S) slamming the government for pushing sincere officers towards suicide.

“A police sub-inspector from your community has died by suicide. Why did he do that? His wife alleges that he took the extreme step because he failed to pay Rs 25 lakh as bribe to the MLA,” Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy said at the launch of ‘Mysuru Chalo’ march jointly organised by the BJP and JD(S) in Bengaluru. He wondered if this is how Parameshwara would pay tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar.

In his reaction, Parameshwara said he goes by the law and not his community. The BJP leaders said earlier Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation Accounts Superintendent, Chandrasekharan P died by suicide. Chandrasekharan in his suicide note explained the illegal transfer of Rs 187 crore, which led to the arrest of the former Minister B Nagendra, and 12 other government and Union Bank of India officers.

  • Mata Prasad Pandey: Akhilesh Yadav Plays ‘BAP’ Card To Challenge Yogi’s Might After Success Of PDA Formula |

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is leaving no stone unturned to keep the BJP on the tenterhook ahead of the upcoming Assembly bypolls.  While Congress was leading the INDIA bloc, Yadav stuck to his PDA ideology – Pichhda, Dalits and Alpsankhyak (Backwards, Dalits, and Minorities) and led his party to a stunning victory against the BJP in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. After the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP scrambled to put together the missing pieces aiming to stage a comeback in the upcoming assembly bypolls for 10 seats.

After acing the PDA formula, Akhilesh Yadav has played another social engineering masterstroke aiming to lure the Brahmin voters who have been voting for the BJP and have played a crucial role in making Yogi Adityanath the Chief Minister for the second time. Uttar Pradesh has 12% Brahmins who mostly vote for the BJP. However, Akhilesh Yadav is well aware that the majority mark in the 2027 assembly polls cannot be acquired without the support from the upper castes including the Brahmins. Thus, Yadav played the ‘BAP’ – ‘Brahmin, Alpsankhyak and Pichhda’ – card which will echo in the Uttar Pradesh assembly challenging Yogi Adityanath’s might for the next three years until the 2027 assembly elections.

Akhilesh Yadav appointed seasoned politician Mata Prasad Pandey as the Leader of the Opposition, thus indicating that his party is not averse to Brahmins. This shows that the Samajwadi Party is now focusing on caste equations to win the polls rather than focusing on the Yadavs and Muslims alone. This was evident in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls where the Samajwadi Party fielded only four Muslims and five Yadavs of the 62 Lok Sabha seats it contested.

The SP also appointed Kamaal Akhtar as the chief whip and Rakesh Kumar alias R K Verma as the deputy whip in the assembly. By making these appointments, Akhilesh Yadav played the ‘Brahmin, Alpsankhyak and Pichhda’ (BAP) card, thus sending a signal to the 12% vote bank that they are being keenly watched by the Samajwadi Party.

    Who Is Mata Prasad Pandey?

Mata Prasad Pandey is a seven-time MLA of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Pandey, 82, replaces SP president Akhilesh Yadav, who resigned as MLA from Karhal seat in Mainpuri district after he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Kannauj. Pandey, a Brahmin leader, has held the post of Uttar Pradesh Assembly speaker twice — 2004-2007 and 2012-2017. He was first elected as MLA in 1980 and then in 1985 and 1989. He served as state health minister between 1990 and 1991 in the then-chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government. He was the labour and employment minister in Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government between 2002 and 2004.

  • Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Gets Backing From Top BJP Leadership; Trouble Mounts For Keshav Prasad Maurya |

The BJP’s top leadership has taken a stern view of the internal politics going on in the party’s Uttar Pradesh unit. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s statements and trips to Delhi created an atmosphere of uncertainty in the state with opposition parties claiming that Maurya wanted Yogi Adityanath to be replaced following the BJP’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha polls. On the other hand, the state BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary also submitted a report to the party’s high command.

Now, with key BJP leaders including CM Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Maurya and Dy CM Brajesh Pathak meeting the senior party leaders in Delhi, a message has been conveyed to those trying to create a rift within the party. As per reports, it has been conveyed to the state party leaders that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will continue to lead the party even in the 2027 Assembly elections.

Before heading to Delhi for the NITI Aayog meeting, the chief minister conducted a comprehensive 20-day review with public representatives from Uttar Pradesh following the 2024 Lok Sabha election results, where the BJP faced significant losses. He held extensive review meetings with BJP MPs, MLAs, and MLCs from all 18 divisions of Uttar Pradesh to analyze the outcomes.

Both Deputy Chief Ministers, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak, were absent from these review meetings led by the Chief Minister. Additionally, Maurya has missed several recent cabinet meetings chaired by Adityanath.
