  • Congress plans against BJP’s Parivartan Yatra, announces Bharosa Yatra in Chhattisgarh on October 2

Chhattisgarh Assembly election: The political temperature is high regarding the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. Both the ruling Congress and opposition BJP parties are continuously organizing rallies and yatras. BJP is carrying out Parivartan Yatra in the state. Two Parivartan Yatras were concluded in Bilaspur on Saturday. Congress has prepared its plan as a counter to BJP’s transformation journey. The party will take out Bharosa Yatra on Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October) i.e. tomorrow in all the 90 assembly seats in the state. The purpose of the yatra is to inform the people about the benefits of the schemes run by the ruling Congress government in the state.

Chhattisgarh Congress unit’s information wing chief Sushil Anand Shukla said in a statement that during the march to be organized on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, his party will also reach out to the people and expose the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He alleged that BJP betrayed the people of the state during the last 15 years of rule (2003-2018). According to sources, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, his cabinet colleagues, Congress MLAs and MPs will participate in the march in their respective constituencies.

The yatra, to be taken out on four-wheelers and motorcycles, will cover a distance of 25-30 kilometers in each constituency, during which ‘nukkad sabhas’ and public meetings will be organised, Shukla said. Efforts will be made to cover as many villages and panchayats as possible during the yatra.

It is noteworthy that the state government had organized ‘Bharosa Ka Sammelan’ at various places in the last few months and it was also attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Slogans like ‘Bhupesh hai to bharosa hai’ and ‘Bharose ki government’ were raised during the programme.

The opposition BJP on Saturday concluded its two ‘Parivartan Yatras’ in Bilaspur city, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the concluding ceremony. BJP’s first Parivartan Yatra was taken out from Dantewada (South Chhattisgarh) on 12 September and the second from Jashpur (North Chhattisgarh) on 15 September.

Elections are to be held in the state at the end of November. The ruling Congress in the state is actively engaged in the election campaign among the people highlighting the failures of the BJP government from 2003-2018 and the achievements of its rule. At the same time, in the role of opposition in the state, BJP is fiercely targeting Bhupesh Baghel and the Congress government. Top leaders of both the parties are visiting the state. The election schedule is likely to be announced soon.
