  • Former Municipality President accused of corruption, Congressmen demand action

Amit Pandey, Khairagarh. Congressmen have raised the demand for action against former Municipal President Shailendra Verma. In fact, in the year 2023, due to the mutual collusion of Khairagarh CMO and the then Municipal President Shailendra Verma, lakhs of rupees were paid in Khairagarh Municipality without purchasing goods and government money was distributed. BJP was continuously protesting against this. After the protest by BJP, the administration came into action and started a departmental inquiry. In the investigation, the then CMO Kuldeep Jha was found guilty, who was also suspended by the government with immediate effect, but in the entire matter, action has not been taken against CMO Khairagarh as well as former Municipal President Shailendra Verma till now, regarding which today the MLA representative and Congress workers reached the district headquarters and submitted a memorandum to the Collector.

The matter pertains to Khairagarh Nagar Palika Parishad, where lakhs of rupees were paid during the period from 1 June 23 to 31 December 23 by showing purchase of materials from Nagar Palika President, Councilor, 14th Finance, 15th Finance, State Change, Municipality, Didi Utensil Bank, Repair Maintenance, Water Troubleshooting items, and other items. BJP General Secretary Ramadhar Rajak had complained about this to the Collector, Urban Administration Minister Arun Sao, Secretary and Director of Urban Administration Department.

In the complaint letter, it was revealed that a huge amount of Rs. 37 lakh 73 thousand was corrupted without purchasing any material. During the purchase and corruption, no bill voucher and file related to this was available in the municipality. No gym material was purchased by the municipality and the government’s store purchase rules were also not followed.

Recently, Shailendra Verma left Congress in a very dramatic way and joined BJP, after which he became the BJP’s municipal president in Khairagarh city after seven and a half years. Now since Shailendra has joined BJP, the series of complaints from BJP has stopped, but instead of BJP, Congress has opened a front to take action against Shailendra Verma.

MLA representative Manrakhan Devangan said that when the CMO was found guilty and suspended in the investigation of the case of misappropriation of government funds worth Rs 37 lakh in the Nagar Palika, then why no action has been taken against Shailendra Verma. The cheque has the joint signatures of the CMO and the Chairman, both of them have committed this robbery in collusion, so we have demanded action against Shailendra Verma and dismiss him from the post of councillor.
