  • Raipur South by-election: Congress showed strength in the nomination rally, former CM Baghel said – BJP insulted Chhattisgarhis by calling Akash Sharma an outsider.

Raipur. Congress candidate Akash Sharma filed nomination today for Raipur South Assembly by-election. Congress showed its strength in the name of Sharma’s nomination rally. Many senior leaders including former CM Bhupesh Baghel, Congress President Deepak Baij, Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant and a large number of Congressmen participated in the rally. Before the nomination rally, a Congress meeting was held at Gandhi Maidan, in which former CM Bhupesh Baghel attacked the BJP government.

Bhupesh Baghel said, by-elections are being held in Raipur South along with Jharkhand and Maharashtra. The failure of the government for eleven months has to be shown through the by-elections. Crime, unemployment and poverty are increasing in the entire state. Education in Chhattisgarh is going at a low level. Raipur has become a den of crime and drugs.

Baghel said, the people of this city had won the election by voting for Brijmohan, but BJP is bent upon disposing of Brijmohan and Sunil Soni. Our candidate is being called an outsider, that too Brijmohan Agarwal is saying so, I feel ashamed. Throughout the South, most people have outside addresses. This is not an insult to Akash Sharma but to the entire Chhattisgarhi.

Brijmohan is counting false achievements of Sunil Soni: Baghel

Bhupesh Baghel said, under the BJP rule, intoxicating pills and medicines are being sold, due to which the youth of entire Chhattisgarh are getting spoiled. Stabbing, firing and murders are taking place under the government of BJP’s Vishnudev Sai. Only BJP is responsible for this. Women are being raped in Raipur South. Murders and robberies are taking place due to knife attacks. Brijmohan Aggarwal is counting the false achievements of Sunil Soni. Baghel said, Sonil Soni has not done a single thing while being mayor, RDA president and MP. The people of the South are now bored. This time change is certain. Our candidate is the young Akash, who has the blessings of the entire South. BJP has removed and erased Brijmohan’s face. BJP has now accepted defeat.

We have to show the power of youth: Mahant

Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahanta said, our young colleague Akash Sharma has got the ticket, so we all have to enter the electoral arena with youthful enthusiasm. Our high command has expressed confidence in Akash. We have to show the power of youth.

This time BJP’s history will change: Baij

State President Deepak Baij, while addressing the gathering, said, he has come to fill the nomination form of Congress candidate Akash Sharma. The historic crowd and presence of senior leaders is giving a big message of Akash Sharma’s victory. Our candidates will change the history of BJP and register victory.

  • Massive Turnout In Kalpetta As Priyanka Gandhi Kicks Off Campaign For Wayanad Bypoll |

WAYANAD: Thousands of people, including UDF leaders and workers, gathered in Kalpetta on Wednesday to participate in a massive roadshow welcoming Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as she prepares to make her electoral debut by filing nomination papers for the upcoming Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll. Priyanka, who arrived in the hill district on Tuesday night along with her mother — Congress Parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi — led the roadshow along with her brother — Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi — from the new bus stand at Kalpetta.

Priyanka’s husband, Robert Vadra, and one of their children were also seen along with her in the open-roof vehicle along with other senior party and IUML leaders during the roadshow.

UDF workers and supporters as well as members of the general public of all age groups, who were waiting since early morning, welcomed her carrying placards with Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi’s photographs, balloons in the party colours and drum beats.

Balloons in the party colours of the Congress and its ally Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) also lined both sides of the nearly two kilometer long roadshow route. Green flags of IUML and the tricolour of the Congress, which were absent during Rahul Gandhi’s roadshow in April this year, were also seen, but in very few numbers.

Priyanka would be contesting against LDF’s Sathyan Mokeri and BJP’s Navya Haridas. The by-election for Wayanad LS seat became necessary after Rahul Gandhi, who won the Lok Sabha polls from there and Rae Bareli constituency, decided to vacate Wayanad.

  • Maharashtra Election 2024: Amid Seat-Sharing Deadlock, Sena-UBT’s ‘Sacrifice’ Message For Congress |

With stalemate continuing over seat-sharing in the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, Shiv Sena-UBT Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has suggested that parties should make a few sacrifices for the betterment of Maharashtra. Giving an example of the Lok Sabha polls where Congress contested more seats, Raut said that this election is about removing a ‘corrupt’ government from Maharashtra.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said, “We have been in politics for years, every party feels that their workers should be made candidates…Everyone has the right to speak about their role but when it comes to seat sharing, everyone has to make a few sacrifices and take a step back.”

When asked if Congress is ready to sacrifice and give up a few seats to other allies in Maha Vikas Aghadi, Raut says, “This is not about sacrifice, this is about national interest and Maharashtra’s interest…We had indeed shown big-heartedness (during seat sharing for Lok Sabha elections) because we had to defeat enemies of the Constitution. Today, we have to remove from power, a corrupt Government in Maharashtra.”

Raut said that the seat-sharing talks will be finalised by this evening. The Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) and Shiv Sena-UBT are part of Maha Vikash Aghadi. The assembly elections for the 288 seats will take place on November 20 and the counting of votes will take place on November 23.

The Congress is keen on contesting around 110 seats while the Sena-UBT is of the view that all three major partners should contest an equal number of seats or at least below 100 to accommodate smaller allies like the Samajwadi Party, Left parties, and the Peasants and Workers Party.

  • Rakesh Tikait’s Big Claim Against Bhupinder Hooda After Congress’ Haryana Poll Debacle |

New Delhi: Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said on Sunday that former chief minister Bhupinder Hooda’s stubbornness sank Congress after the party fell short of the majority mark to form government in Haryana.

Reacting to the statement by farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni, he said, “There was resentment among the farmers. It is not that the farmers did not go with other parties. The farmers voted for every party. There is resentment among the people who joined the movement. Those who did not join the movement are with the government.”

“Elections are fought party basis, religion basis and caste basis. People will vote in favour of like-minded parties. The person who is a farmer, a labourer or a shopkeeper will vote for the party whose faith he has. They (farmers) all live together in the organisation. If a person starts considering the people of the organisation as being in his favour, then he is wrong,” he added.

The BKU leader also raised questions on the veracity of EVMs. “You did not understand mathematics. The public has voted…but they (BJP) are the ones who win… Like sugarcane committee elections are being held in UP, their (BJP) direct game here is to cancel the nominations of the people of the other party and win without election,” he told IANS.

“BJP people have become masters of elections… by fighting with sticks, with intellect, or by making people fight with each other, they will win the elections. This is their tactics that we (BJP) have not to give up power… we have to win the elections,” Tikait said.

“There was definitely something wrong in this election (Haryana), we had said this earlier also. EVMs are kept somewhere and then when elections are held somewhere else. Are the EVMs shown to any party before they are sent to booths… the engineers do all the programme setting… yes, it is all a game of EVMs. You press any button…votes will go to them (BJP) only…,” he further said.

Earlier in the day, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) chief Gurnam Singh Charuni blamed former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda for the party’s defeat in Haryana. “Hooda is the biggest reason for Congress’ defeat because he did not compromise with anyone, and all responsibility was placed on him,” he asserted.

  • ‘We Are Analysing…’: Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda On Surprising Haryana Polls Results |

Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda addressed on Saturday regarding the recent Haryana Elections, stating that the results have taken many by surprise. He emphasised that the party is currently conducting a thorough analysis of the outcomes.

“The results that have come have surprised everyone. We are analysing it in depth. Questions are being raised on the election process. We have also raised the issues before the Election Commission and are waiting for their reply,” Hooda said, ANI reported.

Hooda expressed gratitude to party workers and the people of Haryana and said, “Despite the cheating by BJP, Congress has got about 40 per cent vote share, equal to the BJP. I want to thank the party workers and the people of Haryana for this. We will continue to raise the voice of the people of the state.”

Meanwhile, BJP’s new government is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana on October 17.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with another senior leader from the BJP and Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states will be present.

“We have received the nod of the Prime Minister that on October 17, in Panchkula, the Chief Minister and council of ministers will take oath,” Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar told reporters here on Saturday.

Discussions are ongoing regarding the Deputy Chief Minister position, as the party considers introducing new faces. This move follows the election losses of eight out of ten ministers from the previous Saini government.

  • ‘Muslims Have So Many Castes But…’: PM Modi Slams Congress Over ‘Divide And Rule’ Day After Haryana Victory |

A day after a historic win in the Haryana Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing them of neglecting the diverse castes within the Muslim community and using divisive tactics among Hindus for political gain. “Congress has always used a divide-and-rule formula,” Modi stated during a virtual rally, where he laid the foundation for various development projects in Maharashtra worth over ₹7,600 crore.

He criticized the party for creating narratives that foster division, claiming, “They keep Muslims under fear to convert them into a vote bank, while ignoring the different castes within the Muslim community.” Modi further asserted that Congress’s strategy is to pit one caste of Hindus against another, saying, “The more Hindus get divided, the more it benefits Congress.” He alleged that the party’s efforts to mislead the public, including Dalits and farmers, have been thwarted.

Highlighting the support the BJP received from the Dalit and OBC communities in Haryana, Modi emphasized the welfare schemes that have benefited farmers. “Farmers know who provided them with MSP on crops,” he added.

    BJP’s Development Work

Highlighting the BJP’s development work, Modi said farmers in Haryana are happy with the welfare schemes introduced by the party. He also congratulated the people of Maharashtra for various development projects, including 10 new medical colleges, the modernization of Nagpur Airport, and the construction of a terminal building for Shirdi Airport.

    Corruption Allegations

PM Modi also accused Congress of rampant corruption during their rule, matching the current pace and scale of development. He emphasized that the recognition of Marathi as a Classical Language is a significant achievement, fulfilling the decades-old dream of the Marathi people.

  • Why ‘Jalebi’ Became A BIG Deal In BJP’s Haryana Poll Victory? One Kg Sent To Rahul Gandhi’s Residence |

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is in celebration mode after pulling off what the experts are referring to as ‘unthinkable’. However, the saffron party went above to slam the taste of victory in the face of the Opposition, as the party sent out a box of Jalebi to the Congress veteran Rahul Gandhi’s residence. This apparent gesture was meant as a jibe at Gandhi’s recent remarks about a local sweet shop during an election rally at Gohana rally.

The results have defied the claims made by several pollsters, and the ‘incumbency’ at play. The BJP clinched 48 seats in a 90-membered assembly, while the Congress party finished in second position with 37 seats.

The BJP’s Haryana unit shared a snapshot from a food aggregator app showing an order for 1 kg of the popular dessert, jalebi. The order was placed from a well-known shop in Delhi’s Connaught Place and delivered to 24, Akbar Road, titled “Jalebi for Rahul Gandhi ji.”

“On behalf of all workers Bharatiya Janata Party Haryana, jalebi has been sent to Rahul Gandhi’s house,” the Haryana BJP shared the order on X.

Former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, known for her controversial remarks, posted a photo of herself sharing jalebi with party leaders. In a social media post, she remarked in Hindi, “Today’s jalebi was a little too delicious.”

What Is the Big ‘Jalebi’ Deal?

It all started when Rahul Gandhi, while campaigning in Gohana, praised the iconic Matu Ram halwai’s jalebis. He suggested that this local delicacy could be sold nationwide and even exported, if produced in bulk in a factory—offering the potential to create jobs.

However, his comments quickly sparked jokes and memes online, with many pointing out that jalebis are best enjoyed fresh, not mass-produced in factories.

    Vintage Rahul Gandhi is back

Rahul Gandhi came up with a new business idea and employment model-
    “Jalebi ki factory”

Interestingly, Gohana’s jumbo-sized jalebis became a sweet talking point in the Haryana polls. Both Gandhi and Prime Minister Modi referenced Matu Ram’s legendary creation in their speeches during their respective campaigns. Earlier in May, Modi had used the famous “Matu Ram ki jalebi” to criticize the opposition during a Lok Sabha rally.

Co-owner Raman Gupta also mentioned that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Congress leader Deepender Hooda stopped by the shop while on their campaign trails.

  • MUDA Scam Complainant Alleges Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Others Trying To Destroy Evidence |

BENGALURU: Pradeep Kumar S P, one of the complainants in the MUDA case, on Thursday alleged that the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others were trying to destroy the evidence in the ‘scam’ and requested the Enforcement Directorate to initiate action against them. Lokayukta police on September 27 registered an FIR against Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi B M, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, Devaraju — from whom Mallikarjuna Swamy purchased land and gifted it to her — and others, following a Special Court order on September 25.

The order of the Special Court came a day after the High Court upheld the sanction granted by the Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to conduct an investigation against Siddaramaiah. The ED has also registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR), equivalent to an FIR by police, against the Chief Minister over the alleged irregularities in allotment of 14 sites to his wife by the MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority).

The MUDA on Tuesday decided to take back the 14 plots allotted to Siddaramaiah’s wife, following her decision to relinquish their ownership and possession. The MUDA has ordered to cancel the sale deed of these plots, its Commissioner A N Raghunandan had said. In a letter to ED, Kumar maintained that the status of the property cannot be disturbed without the Court permission.

“I respectfully submit that the Accused should be arrested immediately, failing which, the entire case evidence may be destroyed,” he said in his letter. “Lodge a complaint against the Chief Minister and others for destruction of evidence etc.” He said the proceeds of crime generated by the commission of the scheduled offences during the pendency of investigation is to be maintained and retained in the manner they were at the time of registration of ECIR.

This would enable the authorities to continue the investigation and take such steps as required and provided under the Act, Kumar said. “It appears in public domain that Parvathi has offered to return the proceeds of crime to the MUDA,” Kumar said, adding that based on such a decision, it has been reported that the commissioner of MUDA has changed the records in respect of the 14 sites, which is a subject matter of investigation.

“This is a serious interference in the investigation and an attempt to dissipate the proceeds of crime so as to render the investigation infructuous and misdirect the same,” he said and requested ED’s intervention in the matter. He requested ED to initiate action against the MUDA Commissioner for “altering the proceeds of crime”, inquire whether the office of the Chief Minister or the Chief Minister himself exerted pressure on him and other authorities and lodge a complaint against Siddaramaiah and others for “destruction of evidence.”
