  • Maruti Suzuki’s profit increased by 80 percent, strong demand for the company’s SUVs.

    The profit of the country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki for the last quarter has increased by almost 80 percent. The company has achieved a profit of about Rs 3,717 crore between July and September. Maruti Suzuki’s profit in the same period last year was Rs 2,062 crore. Maruti Suzuki has said that the main reason for the increase in profit is the strong demand for its Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV). Apart from this, the company has also benefited from some reduction in input costs. Maruti Suzuki has SUVs like Grand Vitara, Fronx, Jimny and Brezza. Demand for its utility vehicles like Ertiga has also increased. The company has launched Grand Vitara, Fronx and off-road SUV Jimny in the compact segment of SUV. Due to this, the sales of Maruti Suzuki have increased. In the first half of this year, sales of utility vehicles have been more than three lakh. Maruti Suzuki has more than 25 percent share in this segment. Recently the company had achieved the feat of selling 10 lakh automatic vehicles. Automatic transmission system is offered in 16 models of Maruti. Maruti had said that customers of its NEXA retail chain prefer high-end automatic variants. It accounts for about 58 percent of the company’s automatic car sales. Its automatic transmission systems include Auto Gear Shift (AGS), 4-speed automatic transmission (AT), advanced 6-speed automatic transmission and Electronically-Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT). The 5-speed AGS gearbox is offered in the company’s Alto K-10, S-Presso, Celerio, WagonR, Ignis, Swift, Dzire, Baleno and Fronx. Apart from this, 4-speed AT is available in Jimny and Ciaz and 6-speed AT with paddle shifters in Ertiga, Grand Vitara, Fronx, Brezza and XL6. The option of e-CVT is available in Grand Vitara and Invicto. Maruti had its highest monthly sales in a month in September. Last month the company’s sales were more than 1.81 lakh units. In the first six months of this financial year, the company’s sales in the country have crossed 10 lakh units. This is the first time that Maruti has crossed the sales mark of 10 lakh units in six months of a financial year.

    The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has offered a discount of up to Rs 1 lakh on the Jimny SUV during the festive season. This discount is for its entry-level Zeta variant. Its price is between Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh. This discount will be available only at Maruti Suzuki Nexa dealerships across the country. This includes a discount of Rs 50,000 and an additional exchange offer and loyalty bonus of Rs 50,000. Jimny can be purchased in two dual tone and five single tone colours. This off-roader is getting good response from the customers. It has a 462 cc 4 cylinder petrol engine which generates power of 104.8 PS and torque of 134.2 Nm at 4000 rpm. Its fuel tank is of 40 litres. It comes with the option of 5 speed manual transmission and 4 speed AT. Jimny has a 22.86 cm touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, push start and stop, climate control, power windows, digital lock and tachometer. It includes side and curtain airbags, dual front airbags, brake limited slip differential, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, brake assist function, rear view camera, side impact door beams, seatbelt pre-tensioner/force limiter. This Made in India motorcycle will be exported to North America. According to a media report, Super Meteor 650 will be available in North America in three variants – Astral, Interstellar and Celestial. This motorcycle has received good response from customers. It was launched in India as well as Europe. This is the third motorcycle in the company’s lineup to use a 648cc parallel twin engine. This engine generates 47 bph of power at 7,250 rpm and peak torque of 52.3 Nm at 5,650 rpm. It was launched in the country at a starting price of Rs 3,48,900 (ex-showroom). It features forward-set footpegs and a low and spread stance and uses 43 mm Showa inverted telescopic forks. This is the company’s first 650cc motorcycle with tripper navigation. It has LED headlamp and USB charging port. Recently the company launched the new Bullet 350. Its price starts from Rs 1.74 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be in the category between the company’s Hunter 350 and Classic 350 motorcycles. It has a new instrument console and semi-digital display. The new Bullet 350 has been made available in five colors. It has telescopic forks at the front and twin gas charged shock absorbers at the rear. There are disc brakes at the front and rear or disc and drum brakes depending on the variant. It can be purchased in three variants – Military, Standard and Black Gold. The price of its top variant is Rs 2.16 lakh (ex-showroom). Royal Enfield may also launch the electric motorcycle category soon. The company’s electric motorcycle is being developed in collaboration with Stark Future. There is a strategic partnership between Royal Enfield and Stark Future. Royal Enfield can also make batteries and motors for this motorcycle. This electric motorcycle can be introduced next year. Sales of electric two-wheelers have increased rapidly in the last few years.

The company honored 100 of its driver partners for their contribution in an event held in 10 cities. The children of these driver partners have been given e-learning devices. A few months ago, the company had signed a big deal with Tata Motors related to environment friendly transportation. Under this, 25,000 XPRES-T electric vehicles of Tata Motors will be supplied to Uber. Uber will use these electric sedans in its premium category service. The batteries of XPRES–T are 26 kWh and 25.5 kWh. It can be charged from 0-80 percent using fast charging in 59 minutes and 110 minutes respectively.

Sales in the country have crossed 10 lakh units in the first six months of the current financial year. This is the first time that Maruti has crossed the sales mark of 10 lakh units in six months of a financial year. Apart from SUVs, the company also sells MPVs like Ertiga, XL6 and Invicto in the utility vehicle segment. Its sales in this segment have increased by about 82 percent compared to the same period last year. The company has sold 59,271 units in the utility vehicles segment. For this, Brezza and Grand Vitara were the best selling models in this segment. However, the company’s sales in the small and compact segment have declined compared to September last year. Maruti’s exports have also increased last month. The company exported 22,511 units in September. It was 21,403 units in the same period last year. Recently, Maruti’s compact sedan Dzire achieved the sales figure of 25 lakh units in 15 years of its launch. The company claims that the sales of any other compact sedan competing with it have not reached 10 lakh units in the country. Its price ranges between Rs 6.53 lakh to Rs 9.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The compact sedan segment includes Hyundai’s Aura, Honda’s Amaze and Tata Motors’ Tigor.

  • For five-star rating in Bharat NCAP, cars must have 6 airbags.

    In the last few years, the central government has increased the standards related to security for the automobile industry. In connection with this, Bharat NCAP was recently launched. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Wednesday that the new crash test rules will make it mandatory for automobile companies to provide six airbags in cars. India is the fifth country to start such a program after America, Japan, China and South Korea. Its aim is to increase the safety of cars. Last year, Gadkari had said that the rule of making six airbags mandatory for cars will come into effect from October this year. He said during an event of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), “We have launched Bharat NCAP. In this, the 5-star safety rating for cars will be given only if there are six airbags. People have now become alert and the cars which have There may be more interest in buying them if there will be six airbags. It is for the car manufacturers and the people to decide.” There is a rule to provide at least two airbags in all cars in the country. Last year, the government had estimated that adding four more airbags would cost automobile companies a little more than Rs 6,000. However, market experts say that this cost can be around Rs 19,000. Bharat NCAP will increase the safety of cars and ensure better quality of exported vehicles. Under this, cars will be tested in various ways. These methods are as per Global NCAP. Cars will get safety rating after testing. Rahul Bharti, Executive Officer (Corporate Affairs) of the country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki, had said that the company welcomes this initiative of the Central Government and in the first lot at least three models of Maruti will be sent for testing. Under this, safety standards for 3.5 ton motor vehicles will be increased. The Road Transport and Highways Ministry has said that this will make it easier for car buyers to assess the crash safety of motor vehicles available in the automobile market. Under this, car makers will be able to voluntarily get their cars tested. Star ratings will be given based on the car’s performance in crash tests.

    The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has offered huge discounts on its cars sold through Arena dealerships in September. A discount of up to Rs 60,000 is being given on eight models of the company. Recently, Maruti’s Arena dealerships had crossed the sales of 70 lakh cars. The benefits offered by the company include cash discount, corporate discount and exchange bonus. A cash discount of Rs 35,000 and exchange bonus of up to Rs 20,000 can be availed on WagonR, one of Maruti’s best-selling cars. Along with this, a corporate discount of Rs 4,000 is being given by the company. Its CNG variant is getting a discount of Rs 54,000 including a cash discount of Rs 30,000. On purchasing Maruti Swift hatchback, you are getting cash benefit of Rs 35,000 and exchange bonus of Rs 20,000. Apart from this, corporate discount of Rs 5,000 can also be availed. Benefits of up to Rs 54,000 are available on the company’s small car Alto K10. These especially include a cash discount of Rs 35,000, exchange bonus of Rs 15,000 and a corporate discount of Rs 4,000 on its petrol manual variant. A cash discount of Rs 20,000 is available on its petrol automatic and CNG variants. Maruti’s other models like Celerio, Dzire, Ertiga and Eeco are being given discounts ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 59,000. Recently, Maruti had said that it expects the sales of passenger vehicles to be more than 10 lakh units in this festive season. Shashank Srivastava, senior executive officer of the company, had said that usually the festive season generates 22-26 percent of the total sales in a year. He had told, “The total sales of passenger vehicles in this financial year are estimated to be around 40 lakh units. Sales in the festive season may be around 10 lakh units.” Sales in the automobile industry have been strong this year and are expected to continue in the coming months. Maruti has about 43 percent share in the passenger vehicles segment.
