  • Delhi Police Registers FIR Against ‘Unknown’ People, Questions 6 Suspects In Israeli Embassy Blast Probe |

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has launched a terror probe into the blast that occurred near the Israeli embassy on Tuesday evening, officials said on Saturday. The police has registered an FIR against “unknown” people under the Explosive Substances Act and the Indian Penal Code at the Tughlak Road Police Station, based on a complaint filed by a police officer, an official said. The police has also handed over the case to the Special Cell, the anti-terror unit of the Delhi Police, to “uncover the deeper conspiracy” behind the blast, the official added.

The blast took place in a secluded area behind the Israeli embassy on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, which runs parallel to Prithviraj Road. The area, which has no CCTV camera, is between the boundary walls of a house on plot number 4 – Nanda’s House – and the Central Hindi Training Institute on plot number 2A. No one was injured in the blast.

The police has recovered an “abusive” letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador from near the blast site. Sources said the one-page letter written in English is suspected to be linked to an organisation called Sir Allah Resistance and mentions words like “Zionists”, “Palestine” and “Gaza”.

On Friday, the police told PTI that they were planning to register an FIR as they had found “crucial evidence” indicating a conspiracy to threaten the Israeli envoy.

The police has also scanned footage from multiple CCTV cameras installed around the blast site and identified a suspect who had arrived from Jamia Nagar in an autorickshaw. The police has questioned 10 autorickshaw drivers, including the one who dropped the suspect at the spot before the blast.

The police has also collected a broken dial of a watch and some steel bearings from the blast site but it is not clear if they were used in the explosion. The police is waiting for reports from the National Security Guard’s (NSG) laboratory, where samples from the spot have been sent to determine the components used in the explosion.

The police has recorded the statements of a dozen people who claimed to have heard the loud noise of the blast. The statements reveal that the witnesses saw a vehicle that broke down near the blast site.

  • “An attempt was made to force…”: Lawyer writes letter to police in Mahua Moitra case

Along with this, Jai Anant Dehadrai has also claimed that an attempt was made to force him to withdraw his complaint and he was threatened with harm to his reputation if he did not agree.

Dehadrai was reportedly in a relationship with the Trinamool MP and since their separation, the two are reportedly not on good terms. One reason for the rift between them is their pet dog of Rottweiler breed named Henry. Both have accused each other of ‘stealing’ Henry and their custody battle is being fought in court. The dog is currently with Moitra.

In a letter written to the Police Commissioner on Saturday, Dehadrai said that he is writing under “extremely disturbing circumstances”. There was a fear of threat to life because of his October 14 complaint against Moitra and others, which he had submitted to the CBI and BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.

The lawyer alleged that on Thursday a direct attempt was made to pressure him to withdraw the complaint.

He wrote in his complaint, “If I did not agree, threats were made to harm my reputation. The most important demand was that I would have to unconditionally withdraw both the complaints in which I had filed a national security complaint against Moitra and others. “And very serious allegations have been made related to corruption. It was said that if I agreed to withdraw my complaints, Moitra would return my pet Rottweiler Henry to me.”

‘Tried to forcibly acquire Henry by making fake complaints’

Along with this, Dehadrai said that his concern is serious because the Trinamool MP has a “history of misusing his influence and political influence to intimidate and threaten his opponents”. He claimed that Moitra had tried to possess Henry by force by filing two “fake” complaints against him at Delhi’s Barakhamba Road police station.

Moitra accused of putting pressure on policeman also

The lawyer alleged that Moitra put pressure on the police officer to “intimidate him into giving up the legitimate ownership of Henry”. He claimed that the policeman was innocent as he was being “threatened” by the Trinamool MP. Also said that he should clarify his role.

Complaint was withdrawn as soon as it was sent to Henry: Dehadrai

He said, “When I gave up and sent Henry to Moitra, Moitra, signing a letter dated 04.10.2023, not only unconditionally withdrew her so-called complaints against me, but also categorically told the police that Asked not to take any action against me. “Thus, given the extremely dangerous and suspicious background of Moitra and her associates, I fear a threat to my life.”

‘Can try to stop him from appearing’

The Supreme Court lawyer expressed apprehension that he fears that an attempt may be made to stop him from appearing before the investigating agencies along with the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on October 26. In support of his claim, he said that he had received several “strange messages” on his phone from unknown numbers as well as three phone calls from a “no caller ID” number on Friday.

‘I have very sensitive evidence regarding the case’

He wrote in his letter, “Looking at the strange incidents that are happening, I am afraid for my chamber colleagues and myself. Since I have extremely sensitive evidence and material related to this case, there is every possibility that an attempt may be made to either destroy this material or to extract it from me by threatening physical harm. Therefore, I humbly request you to assess the relevant threats and provide adequate security as you deem appropriate.
