  • Bihar Family Priotarize Voting Over Mother’s Cremation |

    New Delhi: The family of an eighty-year-old Bihar woman who passed away on Saturday, which is the last day of polling, preferred to first cast their vote before performing her last rites. The incident took place at Devkuli village in the Jehanabad Lok Sabha constituency, polling in phase 7 of the Lok Sabha polls. 

     Mithilesh Yadav, son of the deceased said that cremation can wait but election can not so the family decided to cast the vote before performing the mother’s cremation. 

    “My mother died today. She will not come back. Cremation can wait, but not the election. The election will come after five years. Therefore, we (family members) discussed the matter and decided to perform the last rites of our mother after casting our votes,” Yadav, PTI reported. 

    They cast a vote at booth number 115 and went to perform the last rites of their mother.

    Meanwhile, Polling is underway in eight Lok Sabha seats in Bihar during the 7th phase, These seats are polling today Patna Sahib, Patliputra, Arrah, Karakat, Jehanabad, Buxar, Nalanda and Jehanabad.

    New Delhi: Aiming for a third consecutive term, Prime Minister and BJP senior Leader Narendra Modi accused the INDIA alliance of receiving support from Pakistan and jihadis. On Sunday, while addressing the rally at Uttar Pradesh’s Bansgaon rally BJP leader said that prayers are being read in Pakistan for the Samajwadi Party and the Congress who are appealing for “vote jihad” here.

    “Prayers are being read for the win of the INDI alliance of SP and Congress in Pakistan. Jihadis are supporting them from beyond the borders. SP and Congress are appealing for ‘Vote-Jihad’,” he said.

    Addressing a rally in Bansgaon, PM Modi asserted that June 4 is going to decide the future of India and on the same day India’s race to become the third-largest economy will also begin.

    “June 4, 2024, is going to decide the future of India. The country will spread its wings and take a new flight on June 4 towards the resolve of ‘Amrit Kaal’, building a developed India, and fulfilling the dreams of 140 crore Indians. Millions of people are eagerly waiting for that day. On June 4, the countdown of India’s race to become the third largest economy will also begin,” he said.

    Modi also said that there are many youths are getting benefits out of the Mudra scheme, “Those 3 crore poor who will get pucca houses, elderly people above 70 years of age who will get free treatment of up to Rs 5 lakhs, crores of youth who will be benefitted out of Mudra scheme,” he said.

    “Those 3 crore sisters of self-help groups who will become ‘Lakhpati didi’ and crores of people who will be getting free electricity under PM Surya Ghar scheme are waiting for June 4,” he also added. 

  • Lok Sabha Elections 2024: EC Launches ‘Know Your Candidate’ App For Voters to Know More About Their Criminal Background |

    The Know Your Candidate (KYC) app will help Voters to find out if their candidates have engaged in criminal activities in the past or not.
     Political parties also have to tell why they chose a candidate with a criminal background to contest .Tell us what is the basis of the selection of a candidate with a criminal background .

    Here’s a Guide to Find details of Candidates on’ KYC APP ‘ 

     Step 1: Download KYC (Know Your Candidate) app from Play store or App Store

    Step 2: You can either search the candidate by name or by state/constituency

    Step 3: To search by state and constituency, tap “criteria” on the app, select  Parliamentary Constituency (general) for Lok Sabha elections, Assembly Constituency (general) for assembly elections to Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim. Options are also available for bye-elections, with code ‘Bye’ before Parliamentary Constituency and Assembly Constituency.

    Step 4: Selects State and constituency, and submit. You’ll find the list of candidates for that particular constituency.

    The application has been made available for download on both the Android and iOS platforms. The Election Commission posted on its website while also sharing the QR code to download the app.

    Voters can also find details about candidates on the Voter Helpline app.

    “Whether the candidate has a criminal background, whether there are criminal cases against him, or what are their assets and liabilities – voters have the right to have all this information through the KYC app,” he said.

    Candidates with a criminal record are required to publish or make public this information in newspapers on television thrice. The parties giving tickets to such tainted candidates have to explain why they chose them. They have to clearly state the basis of selection of a candidate with a criminal background.
