    A lookout notice has been issued by the Punjab Police against former Punjab Finance Minister and BJP leader Manpreet Badal.     Manpreet Badal is now in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was earlier a member of Congress and before that Shiromani Akali Dal. A spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that raids are being conducted to arrest Badal and other accused. Taking aim at Badal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that those who once boasted of honesty are today running from door to door to save themselves. The Chief Minister said that there is a lot of difference between speaking the truth and standing with the truth. He said that earlier these leaders used to say that they would wait for whatever action would be taken against them, but now they are asking for legal protection to avoid arrest.

    Investigation is being done on the complaint of former MLA Sarup Chand Singla.

    The Vigilance Bureau had started investigating the case based on the complaint made by former MLA Sarup Chand Singla in 2021. In the complaint, BJP leader Singla had alleged irregularities in the purchase of property at a prime location in Bathinda. He had alleged that in the previous Congress government, Badal had misused his ministerial post and converted commercial plots into residential plots for himself. The Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against the accused under sections 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

    Badal was interrogated in July

    The Vigilance Bureau had questioned Badal in July in connection with the investigation. A few days ago, Badal had filed a pre-arrest bail petition in a Bathinda court, which has been listed for hearing on September 26. Badal had left Congress and joined BJP in January this year.
