  • Woodball practice on the river bank, won bronze medal in South Korea, team performed brilliantly under the captaincy of Gariaband Collector Deepak Agarwal

    Purushottam Patra, Gariaband. The Indian team, which practised woodball game in the sand of the river Pari in Gariaband, performed brilliantly in South Korea and won the bronze medal. The team was captained by Deepak Agarwal (IAS Deepak Agarwal), collector of Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. After this victory, the captain said that next time our target is the gold medal.

    The Indian team has won the bronze medal in the international woodball match held in Donghae, South Korea from August 25. The match concluded on August 29. The Indian team was captained by Gariaband Collector Deepak Agarwal. Apart from Indian Woodball Association Secretary Jitendra Patel, Lalit Dangi, Virat Parmar, Rahul Chavan, Pran Pratim Chaliya were part of the team.

    Collector’s performance was better in the team

    A total of 18 gates were fixed in the woodball game, in which 12 were made on grass and 6 on beach land. The gate has to be crossed in the least number of shots. Collector Deepak Agarwal was the player who crossed the gate in the least number of shots for his team. However, the winner is decided on the basis of the performance of 4 players of the team. Taiwan remained at the top in the entire game, the title of first runner up went to Korea while the title of second runner up went to India. Apart from Deepak Agarwal, the performance of Jitendra Patel, Lalit Dangi, Virat Parmar of the team was better.

    For the beach gate, practice was done on the bed level of the Perry River

    Before going to Korea, the Indian team practiced the game in the Pari river of Gariaband. The practice in the long bed of sand present on the banks of the Pari river also proved to be very useful for the team. Deepak Agrawal said that the aim will be to take this game forward and win gold medals in future.

    These twelve countries were involved in the event

    Apart from India, teams from Mongolia, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Pakistan, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand participated in this mega event held in Korea.
