  • Planning A Holiday In Maldives? Think Twice As Crime Against Tourists On A Rise, Indians Attacked |

Maldives was a favourite tourist destination for Indians. However, things have taken a bitter turn of events since the pro-China government led by Mohamed Muizzu came to power in Maldives. Muizzu came to power riding on ‘India Out’ campaign. The relations between India and Maldives turned sour in January this year after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lakshadweep in a bid to promote domestic tourism. However, Maldivian leaders mocked India and made insulting remarks against PM Modi. Since then, the number of Indian tourists visiting the Maldives has declined but still, many Indians are visiting the island nation.

However, the country doesn’t look safe as radical elements have become more active there, show some recent incidents and various reports. In a recent incident, a couple of Indians were attacked by Maldivians after a minor altercation near Central Park in Hulhumale. In another incident, an Israeli woman was targeted in the Maldives and was forced to leave the country, according to reports.

While the tensions between India and Maldives have increased, Maldivian foreign minister Moosa Zameer is likely to visit India next week. If Zameer visits India, it will be the first high-level tour by either side since Muizzu took office last year. Muizzu has already visited China but is yet to visit India. As per reports, a request regarding his visit is pending with New Delhi.

According to reports, Zameer is likely to take up debt payment issues with India seeking leniency on the repayment term. Successive Maldivian governments have taken loans from India from time to time. Muizzu, since taking over power, has limited defence ties with India while leaning towards China.

  • Watch: ‘Got Independence Same Day, India Dreams Of Becoming Superpower, We Are Begging’, Says Pakistan Minister | world news

Pakistan has been staring at an uncertain political and economic future. The situation is such that even some of its leaders have realized that its anti-India policies are not helping the country grow. The country went to the polls in February this year and even during the campaign, leaders like Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan gave statements comparing Pakistan with India to drive home their political point. Earlier, these leaders used to issue threats to India to win polls and now, they want to take inspiration from India’s growth story.

In a recent case, Pakistan’s right-wing Islamic leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman delivered a blistering speech in the country’s Parliament/National Assembly where he talked about democracy, the unfair treatment meted out to Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the economic condition of the Islamic country.

While India is inching closer to become a Global Superpower, Pakistan is begging before the world to save it from devastation.

Rehman, the chief of his faction of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), alleged that the establishment rigged the political system and the recent elections. He said that if the PTI is the largest group in the assembly, then it should be given power.

Drawing parallels with India, Rehman said that both the country got independence on the same day but both are looking in opposite directions. “Just compare India and ourselves… Both countries gained independence on the same day – 15 August 1947. But today, they (India) are dreaming of becoming a superpower and we are begging to avoid bankruptcy,” he said.

He also said that Pakistan was begging the International Monetary Fund to avoid bankruptcy.

Initially, the JUI-F led by Rehman stood as the primary adversary to the PTI and spearheaded the campaign for the removal of Imran Khan. Following his ouster, the JUI-F joined the coalition government. However, it later severed ties with the PML-N and PPP, alleging that the elections had been rigged to prevent his party from attaining power.

  • Pannun Assassination Plot: US Says ‘Regularly Working’ With India On Probe Amid Allegations Of RAW Official’s Involvement |

New Delhi: A day after India rejected the Washington Post report related to Khalistani terrorist Gupatwant Singh Pannu’s assassination plot, the United States said it is ‘regularly working’ with New Delhi in probing the accusations concerning the alleged plot to kill the separatist Sikh leader. India has vehemently dismissed the allegations of involvement of a RAW official in the plot, asserting that the report levied ‘unwarranted and unsubstantiated’ imputations on a serious matter.  It added that an investigation into the case is underway.

As per the news agency PTI, US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel said, “We continue to expect accountability from the Government of India based on the results of the Indian inquiry committee’s work, and we are regularly working with them and enquiring for additional updates.”

Patel stated that they would also persist in expressing their concerns directly to the Indian Government at senior levels. However, beyond that, Patel mentioned that they wouldn’t delve deeper into the matter and would defer to the Department of Justice. This was in response to a question regarding The Washington Post report, which identified the RAW officer as Vikram Yadav and alleged his involvement in the plot to assassinate Pannun.

    India Slams US Daily’s Report

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal denounced the report by the US daily on Tuesday, stating that it made unwarranted and unsubstantiated imputations on a serious matter. Jaiswal further mentioned that a high-level inquiry committee, established by New Delhi to examine the information provided by the US regarding the alleged plot, was still investigating the case.

Jaiswal in New Delhi said that speculative and irresponsible comments regarding the ongoing investigation were not helpful.

    India Refuted Alleged International Conspiracy

Last November, US prosecutors accused Nikhil Gupta, an Indian citizen, of teaming up with an Indian government worker in a failed plan to harm Pannun. Pannun is wanted in India for terrorism and holds citizenship in both the US and Canada. He’s been labeled a terrorist by the Union Home Ministry under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The claims about this plot surfaced after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested Indian involvement in the killing of a separatist named Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia last June. India strongly refuted these allegations.

On December 7, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told Parliament that India set up an inquiry to investigate the information provided by the US regarding the Pannun case because it relates to national security.

  • Startups In India Grew Over 300 Times In 10 Years, Says Union Minister Jitendra Singh |

New Delhi: From just about 350 startups in 2014, their number in India grew over 300 times in the past ten years after Narendra Modi took over as the Prime Minister, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Sunday.

He said the country today has the 3rd largest startup ecosystem globally and is home to the fastest-growing unicorns. “For the first time in the history of independent India, Modi as PM made a painstaking and conscious effort to educate the youth of this country that employment is not confined only to a government job and he has promoted new avenues of livelihood which may be more lucrative than a government job,” Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel.

From just about 350 startups in the year 2014, startups in India grew over 300 times in ten years after Narendra Modi took over as the Prime Minister, he said. Singh further said, PM Modi unleashed India’s space research by opening up the hitherto conservative and secluded sector.

“India has literally reached for the moon and beyond with the twin feats of Chardyaan-3 and Aditya L1 solar mission in the last year alone,” he added. Singh said, the number of space startups has gone up from a single digit to three digits in just about four years since the space sector was opened up to the private sector.

PM Modi’s out-of-the-box decisions have given a push to different sectors including space, railways, roads, infrastructure and electronics-communication, and which has posted India’s economy from 11th rank to 5th largest economy and is now on the verge of occupying third rank, the Union minister said.

Singh said, in 2014, when PM Modi took over, India stood as the world’s tenth-largest economy. “In less than ten years, we jumped to 5th position. Hopefully this year it will emerge as the 4th largest economy and during PM Modi’s 3rd term, India will be the world’s 3rd largest economy, marching on to become the no 1 economy by 2047,” he added.

India of 2024 is ready to take a giant leap, backed by its scientific acumen and technological prowess, Singh said. the

Singh said, that youth is the centre of focus of the Modi government through empowerment of the “Amrit-Peedhi”. “The common citizen believes that India can become the world’s leading economy under the leadership of PM Modi because of the outreach he commands across the world and the common people also feel confident under the government headed by Narendra Modi,” he said.

  • India Will Enter Pakistan To Kill Terrorists If They Flee There: Rajnath Singh |

NEW DELHI: In a resolute warning to terror outfits, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has affirmed India’s commitment to thwarting terrorism, even if it means crossing the borders. Responding to recent allegations and echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assertive stance, Singh stated that India would pursue terrorists who seek refuge in Pakistan after perpetrating acts of violence in India. “20 terrorists ko maara hai? Koi bhi terrorist hamare padosi desh se yadi Bharat ko disturb karne ki koshish karega, ya yahan par aatankwadi harkatein karega, to uska muh tod jawab denge. Yadi woh bhaag kar Pakistan mein jayega, to Pakistan mein ghus kar maarenge (Did you say we killed 20 terrorists? If any terrorist from Pakistan tries to disturb India, or commits terrorist acts here, we will give a befitting response. If he runs away to Pakistan, we will go there and kill him),” Rajnath Singh while speaking to a private media house.

    No Tolerance For Terrorism: Rajnath

Singh emphasized India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, asserting that the country will not hesitate to take decisive action against those who disturb its peace. He reiterated India’s desire for peaceful relations with neighbouring countries but underscored the nation’s readiness to respond firmly to any threat to its security.

    Escalating Tensions

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following the 2019 Pulwama attack, which India attributed to Pakistan-based militants. The subsequent airstrikes by India on terrorist targets in Pakistan further strained relations between the two nations.

    International Allegations

Recent allegations, particularly highlighted by UK-based media outlet The Guardian, have accused India of extrajudicial killings in Pakistan. These claims have sparked international scrutiny and contributed to the ongoing diplomatic friction between India and Pakistan. The Guardian report came months after Canada and the US accused India of killing or attempting to kill Khalistani terrorists in those countries. Canada said in September that it was pursuing “credible allegations” linking India to the death of a Sikh separatist leader shot dead in June – claims that India said were “absurd and motivated”. A top Canadian official said in January that India was cooperating in the matter and bilateral ties were improving. Similarly, the US said in November that it had thwarted an Indian plot to kill a Sikh separatist leader and announced charges against a person it said had worked with India to orchestrate the attempted murder.

    Denial And Counterclaims

New Delhi, however, maintains that targeted killings in other countries are not a policy of the Indian government. The Ministry of External Affairs has reiterated its stand that it has no role to play in these killings. The MEA claimed that they were ‘false and malicious anti-India propaganda’.

Despite these tensions, efforts to improve bilateral relations have been observed, with India expressing a willingness to cooperate in investigations. Both Canada and the US have acknowledged India’s cooperation in addressing the allegations, signalling a potential thaw in diplomatic relations.

Prime Minister Modi has reiterated India’s commitment to investigating any information regarding alleged extraterritorial activities. This commitment underscores India’s adherence to the rule of law and its determination to address accusations transparently.

Addressing attendees at the 70th Founders’ Day celebrations of the Indian Institute of Public Administration in New Delhi, VP Dhankhar emphasized that India does not require lessons from any country on the rule of law. “Recently, people are telling us about the rule of law. The moment law takes its course, they take to the streets, high decibel debates, camouflaging the culpability of the worst nature by human rights. This is happening under our nose,” he added.

Challenges To The Rule Of Law

Dhankhar highlighted the challenges faced by Indian democracy, noting that some individuals resort to street protests and high-decibel debates when faced with legal proceedings. He condemned attempts to evade accountability by masking wrongdoing under the guise of human rights advocacy.

    Strengthening Judicial System

The Vice President praised India’s judicial system as robust, pro-people, and independent, urging deeper reflection on the tendency to circumvent the rule of law. He emphasized that corruption no longer offers immunity, stating unequivocally that “corruption is not a passage to opportunity, employment, or a contract anymore. It is a passage to jail.”

    Defending Institutions

Expressing concern over attempts to undermine Indian institutions, Dhankhar questioned the legitimacy of unregistered political entities and called for accountability and transparency in political engagement.

    India’s Global Standing

Asserting India’s rightful place on the global stage, Dhankhar highlighted the nation’s contributions to global governance and advocated for India’s inclusion in the United Nations Security Council. He argued that India’s constitutionally structured democracy uniquely qualifies it to represent the interests of diverse nations.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Surendra Nath Tripathi, DG, IIPA, and Amitabh Ranjan, Registrar, IIPA.

  • Home Ministry Notifies CAA Rules; Minority Migrants Of These Countries To Get Indian Citizenship |

The Narendra Modi Government today announced the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 regulations. It was an integral part of the BJP’s 2019 manifesto. With this notification, the persecuted migrants beloging to minority communities will be able to get citizenship of India. Following the passage of the CAA by Parliament in December 2019 and its subsequent Presidential assent, significant protests erupted in various parts of the country after which the Modi government had put the implementation of the law in an abeyance. On December 27, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had asserted that the implementation of the CAA cannot be halted as it stands as the law of the land.

    What Is CAA?

The Citizenship Amendment Act aims to confer Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants – including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians – who migrated from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan and arrived in India before December 31, 2014. The government has set up an online portal for allowing the migrants to apply for the citizenship. Applicants will need to disclose the year of their entry into India without any travel documents. No additional documentation will be required from the applicants.

    Enabling CAA Through District Magistrate

During the past two years, over 30 district magistrates and home secretaries across nine states have been authorized with the ability to confer Indian citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians arriving from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan under the Citizenship Act of 1955. As per the Ministry of Home Affairs annual report for 2021-22, between April 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021, a cumulative count of 1,414 individuals from non-Muslim minority communities originating from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan were granted Indian citizenship through registration or naturalization under the Citizenship Act, 1955.

West Bengal Government’s Stand On CAA

The Mamata Banerjee government has been opposed to the CAA. “If people are deprived of their rights under the rules, then we will fight against it. This is BJP’s publicity for elections, it is nothing else,” said Banerjee today. Banerjee also said that she won’t allow the government to implement the NRC as well. The Bengal CM added that everyone who live in Bengal are citizens of India.
