    Retention Rules And Purse Deductions

    For IPL 2025, franchises can retain up to five capped players, with specific amounts being deducted from their auction purse depending on the number of players retained. The retention slabs are as follows:

    For the first three retentions: INR 18 crore, INR 14 crore, and INR 11 crore. For the next two retentions: INR 18 crore and INR 14 crore.

    In case a franchise retains five capped players and one uncapped player before the auction, a total of INR 79 crore will be deducted from the team’s purse of INR 120 crore. This leaves the franchise with INR 41 crore to spend at the auction. For franchises opting to retain four capped players and two uncapped players, INR 69 crore will be deducted from their purse.

    Notably, the salary cap for uncapped players remains unchanged from the 2021 mega auction, with franchises deducting INR 4 crore for each uncapped player retained.

    Impact Player Rule To Stay Until 2027

    Despite some opposition from certain franchises and top players, including India captain Rohit Sharma, the IPL has decided to keep the controversial Impact Player rule in place for at least three more seasons, extending its tenure until 2027.

Right now, my children are 14 and 16, and they need my presence. Both are involved in cricket, and the other is an opening batsman.

He noted, “If I became the coach of the Indian team, it would be a significant challenge for me to be away from my kids for such long periods. However, if an opportunity to coach or mentor an IPL team comes up, I would definitely consider it.”

During his time with PBKS, the team struggled to make a mark and failed to progress to the playoff stages.     Sunrisers Hyderabad owner Kavya Maran was among those who opposed the proposal. She argued that allowing a retired cricketer to be classified as an uncapped player would be ‘disrespectful’ and could set a ‘wrong precedent’ if such a player received a higher salary than a genuine uncapped cricketer. Maran suggested that Dhoni, if he wishes to continue, should enter the auction like any other player, allowing team owners to determine his value.

    The report also addressed rumors that Chennai’s push for this rule was motivated by a desire to retain Dhoni. These rumors were dismissed, noting that before the last mega auction in 2022, CSK retained Dhoni for Rs 12 crore, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was uncapped at that time, was retained for half that amount.

    As for whether Dhoni will play in IPL 2025, the answer remains uncertain. After undergoing knee surgery last year, Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Gaikwad and is expected to take on a finisher’s role in IPL 2024.     In 2025, Australia could play the World Test Championship final in June, right after the conclusion of the IPL, followed by the tour to the West Indies, which includes two Tests, three ODIs and as many T20Is.

    Additionally, Cricket Australia Chairman, Mike Bird called for the sustainability of playing Test cricket.

    “Do you have a smaller amount of Test-playing nations that are sustainable, as opposed to trying to prop up a system with additional cost that is adding to the economic challenges of maintaining Test cricket?” he wondered.

    Bird also called for ideas that would be sufficiently suited to playing the traditional format.

    “We (Cricket Australia) don’t feel (we) should dictate to any country, but we’re open to ideas and proposals on how to support Test playing full stop.”

    “There’s a summer to fill, and white-ball cricket can play a role, but (Test cricket) still remains the dominant game in Australia. It is very clear Australia will support and invest and grow Test cricket opportunities as long as we possibly can,” Bird added.

A few months later, he marked his first century for India in an ODI against Zimbabwe, ending his career with 1389 runs at an average of 42.09, featuring six half-centuries and two centuries. His retirement follows two days after Dinesh Karthik’s exit.

    One of Jadhav’s memorable innings was his 120 off just 76 balls in Pune against England, where India chased down 351 runs. He and Kohli both scored centuries, forging a thrilling 200-run partnership, with Jadhav’s standout performance earning him the Player-of-the-Match award. He was also part of India’s 2019 World Cup squad, contributing crucially with a 52-run innings against West Indies.

    Jadhav rose to prominence during the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy, finishing as the highest run-scorer of the season with 1223 runs at an average of 87.35, including six half-centuries and two fifties, with a best of 204. His outstanding form propelled Maharashtra to the final, although they lost to Karnataka.

In the end, they needed a simple win to qualify for the playoffs. But they batted poorly in the chase and could not achieve the cut-off score even to qualify.

    RCB, on the other hand, won 6 matches on the trot to qualify. They won some of these matches by good margin also which boosted their Net Run rate (NRR). They were on the cusp on being knocked out early but they picked up their game in the last 3 weeks and will now play the Eliminator vs Rajasthan Royals.

    RCB fought hard and had every right to celebrate the win over CSK in their lowest group match. The celebrations were extended on the ground. An upset MS Dhoni lined up in a queue to shake hands with the RCB players. Upon seeing their celebration, he left the ground after shaking hands with the support staff of the opposition camp.

    One cannot say whether Dhoni got angered by RCB’s extended celebrations over playoffs qualification on the field but cameras have recorded him leaving the ground.

    On social media, a sort of war has erupted since then. RCB fans are targeting Dhoni for not waiting to shake hands with opposition players. On the other hand, CSK fans are also alleging that RCB players did not show respect to a senior player like MSD by ignoring him.

    One Twitter user, who happens to be a CSK fan, wrote that RCB players are classless and the should not forget that Dhoni won 5 IPL titles for CSK and should have been respected. The RCB fans also gave fitting replies to the CSK fan, saying that all MSD had to was walk 50 meters or less to shake hands.
