  • SECL officers and employees were extorting money on the bypass road by posing as fake police, police arrested 5 accused

    Korba. In the Katghora police station of the district, on Friday, 14th September, between 3 and 4 am, the police received information that on the Dhelwadih bypass road, some people were stopping heavy vehicles and extorting money by claiming to be TI and police. After which the Katghora police team immediately reached the spot and arrested 5 people.

    According to the information, the driver of truck owner Afsar Ansari, Hardik Ansari (44 years), father- Shekhawat Ansari, resident of Garhwa Jharkhand, has made a written complaint in Katghora police station that truck number CG12 BJ 6068 was going to Forbesganj Bihar after loading rice from Raipur. During this time, at around 3:15 in the night, a Bolero vehicle number CG12 BG 9852 arrived at Dhelwadih bypass with siren and came near the truck. 5 people got down from the Bolero and started threatening me by calling themselves TI and police. They started asking for the papers and bill of the vehicle, even after showing all the papers of the vehicle, they forcibly pulled me out of the vehicle. After this, saying that the papers are not correct, they started demanding money and started talking about sending me to jail if the money is not given. The accused also snatched 2000 cash and his mobile kept with him and kept it with themselves.

    The driver said that they were extorting money from all the heavy vehicles passing on the road and everyone was calling each other ‘Sahib’.

    On receiving the complaint, on the instructions of Korba District Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tiwari, Katghora police station registered a case against the five accused and presented them before the Hon’ble Court under Sections 126 (2), 119 (2), 310 (2) and sent them to jail on judicial remand. The four arrested accused are officers and employees of SECL. One more accused has been found to be involved.

    1. Mukesh Kesharwani, father- Pradeep Kesharwani, age 36 years- resident of Kera Road, police station- Shivrinarayan, district Janjgir Champa

    2. Abhishek Meena, father- Ramprasad Meena, age 26 years, resident- Adarsh ​​Nagar Jaipur, Police Station Sanganer, District Jaipur, Rajasthan

    3. Vikas Meena, father- Late Satish Meena, age 28 years, resident of Sun City Sikar, Jaipur Rajasthan

    4. Dilip Kumar Yadav, father- Pardeshi Ram Yadav, age 25 years, resident of Singhali Basti, Police Station Bankimongra Korba

    5. Har Prasad Patel, father- Late Santosh Patel, age 27 years, resident- Balgi- Police Station Bankimongra, Korba.

According to the information, a pickup was booked to take Syntex from Ambika Traders of Hardibazaar and five bags of cement from Manoj Hardware of village Boida to village Jevara. 6 youths were sitting in a circle in Sothi forest. The youth who was taking the booking stopped the pickup vehicle on the pretext of stomach ache.

    As soon as they got the chance, the thieves who were lying in wait took the driver hostage. After this, they beat him up and left him in the forest and fled with the pickup vehicle and the money. Somehow, the driver saved his life and reached the village near the forest and informed 112. On the complaint of the case, Hardi Bazaar police has started investigation.

On Sunday, Narsingh, resident of village Korbi, his wife Rajkumari, sister Punni Bai and nephew Deepak Singh had gone to the forest to collect Karil and Putu. During this time the villagers encountered tusked elephants. Two women died on the spot due to elephant attack. Two people have been injured there. The deceased and the injured are said to be from the same family. Sister-in-law and sister-in-law have died in an elephant attack. Whereas nephew Deepak and deceased woman’s husband Narsingh are injured. As soon as information about the incident was received, DFO Kumar Nishant of Katghora Forest Division and Ranger Pondi reached Uproda Community Hospital.

    Efforts continue to drive away elephants

    According to forest department officials, a group of 41 elephants is roaming in the forest in Kendai and Aitama Nagar range. Elephants are continuously damaging crops. Tusk elephants, separated from the herd, came face to face with the villagers. The forest department has warned the villagers not to go to the elephant roaming area, yet the villagers go into the forest and become victims of accidents. The forest department team is trying to drive the elephants towards the forest.

    Elephant-human conflict increasing continuously in Chhattisgarh

    Human-elephant conflict in the northern part of Chhattisgarh has been a major cause of concern for the last decade. This is a major threat in Surguja, Jashpur, Raigarh, Korba, Surajpur, Ambikapur and Balrampur districts. According to forest department documents, there were only 32 elephants in the state in September 2002. This figure reached 122 in 2007 and 247 in 2017.
