Smriti Irani: Union Minister Smriti Irani on Thursday said that India is poised to become the world’s third largest economy by 2027 and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development model for this. Addressing the ‘Manorama News Conclave 2023’ organized by Malayala Manorama Group here, the minister said that more than a month ago, Prime Minister Modi had said that India will become one of the top three economies of the world in the next two to three years.

Responding to a question from the audience on how to tackle child abuse cases in India, the Union Minister said that one of the biggest challenges is that about 80 per cent of cases of abuse involve people who are children.
