  • Nanded government hospital exposes the health department, 127 deaths in 12 days, how much improvement has happened?

In this Nanded Government Medical College Hospital of Maharashtra, which exposed the entire health department due to the death of 31 patients in 48 hours, the relatives of some patients are still wandering outside for medicines. Even today, pigs are roaming freely in the hospital premises. The filth of the toilets in the ward still persists and the death toll is still disturbing.

There have been 127 deaths in this hospital in Maharashtra from October 1 to October 12. Of these, 46 are children and newborns. Of these, 25 are girls and 21 are boys.

Regarding this, the administration says that the death rate has not increased. The number seems to have increased due to the deaths of very serious last stage patients who came from other districts and hospitals. According to Dr. Ganesh Manurkar, Medical Superintendent of Nanded Hospital, serious patients who cannot be treated in private hospitals are brought here. Those who died recently also came like this. When private or other hospitals surrender, patients are brought here. That’s why the numbers seem to have increased, but if you look closely, the death rate has not increased.

“Why did we come to a government hospital?”

Moinuddin Sheikh of Thane district reached this government hospital in Nanded to get his wife treated. He did not get the complete medicine. Moinuddin Sheikh told that from where should I get the pill, you tell me, then why did we come to a government hospital.

“The administration should do something, everywhere you look there is filth.”

The picture of smelly, dirty toilets and pigs roaming freely in the premises has not changed. One person said that my father is admitted here, we eat here. Animals snatch our food and run away. The administration should do something. Wherever you look, there is filth.

“Capacity of 500 beds and patients more than a thousand”

Medical Superintendent of Nanded Hospital, Dr. Ganesh Manurkar said that the capacity is five hundred beds and the number of patients is above a thousand, there is a problem of staff for cleaning, but the work is being done. As far as medicines are concerned, there is a slight shortage of some medicines available in OPD. Otherwise a good stock of medicine has come from the collector. Donation has also been received.

High Court had given instructions to take the issue seriously

Strict on Nanded deaths, the High Court has asked the government to find a proper solution to the problem of hospital doctors and para medical staff and also to take seriously the issue of procurement of medicines and other medical equipment. A state level committee is working to investigate the deaths. CM Eknath Shinde has also assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible for these deaths.
