  • Interview: Samajwadi leader Raghu Thakur talked about state elections, Naxal policy, caste census, ideology, said- A joint government can be formed in Jammu and Kashmir between those demanding the removal and return of Article 370

Vaibhav Bemetariha, Raipur. Renowned socialist leader and patron of the Democratic Samajwadi Party Raghu Thakur, who arrived on a visit to Chhattisgarh, spoke openly on many issues in an interview with Lalluram.com. He said a lot on the elections of two states to be held in the coming months, the Naxal policy of the Chhattisgarh government, caste census and political ideology.

Mismatched government possible in Jammu and Kashmir

Raghu Thakur said that this time the elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be very interesting. The way the situation is looking, it seems that a mismatched government will be formed. The kind of coalition government in the country, its effect is visible in the current elections. Anyway, BJP has once again sent Ram Madhav to Jammu and Kashmir. From this, it can be understood what is the strategy of BJP. Ram Madhav was called back after the removal of Article 370, now he has been sent again before the elections. It is visible that there may be an alliance after the elections between the parties demanding the removal of Article 370 and the reinstatement of this article in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pawar’s role is important in Maharashtra

Regarding Maharashtra elections, it is said that BJP’s position is not strong in Maharashtra. The Congress alliance is also confused on the CM face. In such a situation, Pawar will be in the strongest role here. It is not easy to understand Sharad Pawar’s politics. Actually, Uddhav Thackeray wants that he should be declared the CM candidate first. But Congress is not ready for this. In such a situation, it is completely unclear what will be Pawar’s stance during or after the elections. BJP will wait till the elections. It is possible that the alliance may look different after the elections.

    caste census

I have been in favour of caste census from the beginning. This issue is not new. Right now there is a lot of politics happening on this issue. Rahul Gandhi is also giving a lot of attention on this, but he remained silent during the Manmohan government. Rahul Gandhi should have spoken even then. Because in 2011, caste census was done right after the census, but the Congress government did not make it public. At present, this is an agenda to gain electoral benefits, but whatever caste census is done, it should be done. It is good that now the Sangh has understood this. Because there was a lot of uproar about this within the Sangh as well.

    Vishnudev Sai and Naxal policy

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai is a good person. He is a gentleman and straightforward. But he will have to prove himself in the current politics and system. Because the circle of the system and political pressure makes people do something else. There is a need to avoid this.

As far as the state’s Naxal policy is concerned, it has to be understood that governments kept changing, policies kept changing, but honest work was not done on the Naxal front. Talking about the statements and campaigns of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, I would call him a leader who makes announcements or fixes targets. Shah ji goes somewhere and fixes targets. But this will not work. Because now there is no such thing as ideology in Naxalism. Criminality dominates in Naxalism. International drug mafias have entered Naxalism. The illegal drug business is happening among the Maoists. In such a situation, it cannot be ended by fixing any target. The fight will be long. It will have to be curbed at the international level. Not only this, corruption in government schemes comes to the fore in the name of Naxalism, the government’s focus on this is necessary. I believe that the solution to Naxalism is possible only through an egalitarian society among the tribals.

    Politics of socialism

There is a lack of ideology in the country’s politics now. The truth is that there is neither nationalism in the BJP nor Gandhism in the Congress. There is no socialism even in the Samajwadi Party. If there is anything, it is only power everywhere. The lure of power has destroyed the politics of ideology. But our fight continues. We are completely in favour of socialism. An egalitarian society is our aim.
