  • ChatGPT Maker OpenAI Launches New Search Engine ‘SearchGPT’ To Take On Google Search; Here’s How It Works |

New Delhi: OpenAI, an artificial intelligence company behind the chatbot ChatGPT, has finally launched its AI search engine called SearchGPT. With this, the Microsoft-backed AI chatbot Open AI will try to take on Google Search. The new feature is currently in the ‘prototype’ stage which is accessible to only a small group of users.

The company plans to integrate its capabilities into ChatGPT in the near future. It is important to note that tech companies have been exploring various use cases of generative AI that could be integrated into the everyday tech ecosystem of users since the unveiling of ChatGPT in 2022.

In a blog post about the new search feature, OpenAI wrote, “We’re testing SearchGPT, a prototype of new search features designed to combine the strength of our AI models with information from the web to give you fast and timely answers with clear and relevant sources.”

    What is OpenAI SearchGPT?

SearchGPT is an AI-powered search engine designed to provide direct answers to your queries. Instead of traditional search results, you simply enter what you’re looking for into a large search box, and you receive a detailed, step-by-step response, complete with related images.

    How Does OpenAI SearchGPT Works?

Understanding the Query: The system uses AI, specifically Natural Language Processing (NLP) and in-house GPT Large Language Models, to grasp the context and intent behind your query.

Generating the Answer and Scanning Web Results: It formulates an appropriate answer by scanning web results to gather relevant information.

Summarizing Information with Source Links: The system summarizes the relevant web results and provides links to the sources next to each piece of information.

Sidebar for Related Results: Additional related results with source links are conveniently available in a sidebar for further exploration.

Interactive Chatbot Interface and Future Integration: Interactions occur in a chatbot-like interface, allowing follow-up questions and conversations. This functionality will be integrated into ChatGPT in the future for easier access.

The company further informed that Mac users will get faster access to ChatGPT to chat about email, screenshots, and anything on their screen with the Option + Space shortcut. The Mac users can now call up ChatGPT by using the keyboard combination of Option + Space after installing the new ChatGPT app.

How Apple Mac Users Can Get ChatGPT?

To get the app, users will need an M1 Mac as the app doesn’t run on Intel-powered Mac devices. The OpenAI has informed that the desktop app is only available for macOS 14+ with Apple Silicon (M1 or better). If you have a Mac with an M1 chip or later, you can visit OpenAI’s website to download the app for free.

At the ‘WWDC 2024’, Apple said it is integrating ChatGPT access to experiences within iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, allowing users to access its expertise, without needing to jump between tools. Siri can tap into ChatGPT’s expertise when helpful. Users are asked before any questions are sent to ChatGPT, along with any documents or photos, and Siri then presents the answer directly.

“Additionally, ChatGPT will be available in Apple’s systemwide Writing Tools, which help users generate content for anything they are writing about,” said the company. With Compose, users can also access ChatGPT image tools to generate images in a wide variety of styles to complement what they are writing. (With Inputs From IANS).

  • OpenAI Never Clawed Back Any Employee’s Vested Equity: CEO Sam Altman |

New Delhi: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Sunday clarified that the company has never clawed back any employee’s vested equity and will never do such a thing in the future. Altman responded to a media report that claimed that the ChatGPT maker revoked employees’ vested equity (or stock option) in the company, following two high-profile departures.

Altman said that they would never do this “if people do not sign a separation agreement (or don’t agree to a non-disparagement agreement)”. “Vested equity is vested equity, full stop,” he posted on X social media platform.

in regards to recent stuff about how openai handles equity:

we have never clawed back anyone’s vested equity, nor will we do that if people do not sign a separation agreement (or don’t agree to a non-disparagement agreement). vested equity is vested equity, full stop.

    — Sam Altman (@sama) May 18, 2024

According to him, there was a provision about potential equity cancellation in the company’s previous exit documents. “Although we never clawed anything back, it should never have been something we had in any documents or communication. This is on me and one of the few times I’ve been genuinely embarrassed running OpenAI. I did not know this was happening and I should have,” he explained.

Altman said that the team was already in the process of fixing the standard exit paperwork over the past month or so. “If any former employee who signed one of those old agreements is worried about it, they can contact me and we’ll fix that too. Very sorry about this,” he posted.

  • No Founding Agreement With Elon Musk, Claims OpenAI |

San Francisco: Sam Altman-run OpenAI has clarified that they are not in any kind of founding agreement with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, refuting his claim that the ChatGPT maker violated a founding contract with the billionaire.

In a court filing, the company said that the evidence would show that “Musk supported a for-profit structure for OpenAI, to be controlled by Musk himself, and dropped the project when his wishes were not followed”.

“Seeing the remarkable technological advances OpenAI has achieved, Musk now wants that success for himself,” the lawsuit read. The company argued that there is no “Founding Agreement, or any agreement at all with Musk, as the complaint itself makes clear”. “The Founding Agreement is instead a fiction Musk has conjured to lay unearned claim to the fruits of an enterprise he initially supported, then abandoned, then watched succeed without him,” read the lawsuit.

OpenAI last week hit back at Musk’s lawsuit, saying as the company discussed a for-profit structure in order to further the mission, “Musk wanted us to merge with Tesla or he wanted full control”.

In a blog post, the ChatGPT maker alleged that Musk wanted “majority equity, initial board control, and to be CEO.” In the middle of these discussions, “he withheld funding”. • OpenAI’s ChatGPT Is Testing New ‘Memory’ Feature With Select Users |

New Delhi: OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the widely-used AI-driven chatbot, is currently in the process of testing a ‘Memory’ function feature. This addition aims to integrate memory capabilities, enhancing user interaction by retaining previous conversations. Notably, users retain complete control over this feature, determining what is stored and how it’s applied.

The Memory feature is currently undergoing trials with a select group of ChatGPT’s free and Plus subscribers. This trial phase serves to assess its utility and efficacy prior to wider implementation. Additionally, the company promises to share plans for wider availability shortly.

Furthermore, users can effortlessly manage their preferences regarding memory usage. They maintain the ability to deactivate the feature at any time or selectively erase specific information. Moreover, there’s an option to review and delete memories individually or clear all memories entirely via the settings menu. In a blog post, the company said, “We’re testing memory with ChatGPT. Remembering things you discuss across all chats saves you from having to repeat information and makes future conversations more helpful. You’re in control of ChatGPT’s memory. You can explicitly tell it to remember something, ask it what it remembers, and tell it to forget conversationally or through settings. You can also turn it off entirely. We are rolling out to a small portion of ChatGPT free and Plus users this week to learn how useful it is. We will share plans for broader rollout soon.”

Another new feature being tested is temporary chat. When activated, your chats are not recorded in the history or stored as memories, ensuring they are not utilised for AI training. A small cohort of free and paid ChatGPT users will test this memory features this week. (Also Read: Meta Testing New ‘Trending Topics’ Feature On X Rival Threads)

OpenAI also announced that developers who have created custom GPT chatbots, recently launched, will soon have the capability to enable the memory feature.
