  • Rain Alert: Heavy rain expected for next 5 days, Meteorological Department issues orange alert

    Weather Report 21 September: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in many areas of the country for the next five days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many states including Maharashtra, Gujarat and Odisha. A low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha coasts is likely to cause heavy to very heavy rainfall over East and adjoining Central India during the next five days.

    According to IMD, scattered to light and moderate rain is likely over the rest of the country during the next five days. Apart from this, the weather office has issued a yellow alert for many areas of Odisha in view of possible heavy rains.

    East India: According to IMD forecast, light rainfall with thunderstorms is likely over West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha and Jharkhand on September 21-22. Apart from this, very heavy rainfall is expected in Odisha on 21 September and West Bengal and Sikkim on 21-22 September. There is a possibility of rain along with thunderstorm in some parts of Bihar on 21-23 September. There is a possibility of rain in Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 22-24 September.

    Northeast India: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur between September 20-23.

    Central India: Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely over various parts of Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and West Madhya Pradesh from September 20-23. IMD said that there is a possibility of very heavy rain in Chhattisgarh on September 21.

    South India: Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala on 20-21 September. Rain is expected in Tamil Nadu on 21-22 September.

    North West India: Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is expected in parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 22.
