The Indian diaspora in Singapore expressed their excitement over PM Modi’s arrival, calling it a “dream come true” moment. Some enthusiasts even woke up at 5 a.m. just to catch a glimpse of him.

Ujjwala Yojana 2023: The Central Government has given big relief to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala Scheme. The government has increased the amount of subsidy on Ujjwala scheme (LPG Cylinder Subsidy Hike) has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 300. At present, people have to pay Rs 903 for a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder. Whereas, under the scheme, the beneficiaries had to pay Rs 703. After increasing the subsidy by the Central Government, the beneficiaries will have to pay Rs 603. Earlier, on August 30, giving a big relief to the common people and the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme, the Central Government had announced a subsidy of Rs 200 on LPG cylinder and an additional subsidy of Rs 200 to the customers of Ujjwala scheme. Earlier, under the Ujjwala scheme, beneficiaries were being given a subsidy of Rs 200 on the cylinder. This simply meant that now they were being given a subsidy of Rs 400 on the purchase of LPG cylinder. But after this announcement of the government, the subsidy given under Ujjwala scheme has increased to Rs 500.

Ujjwala Yojana is an important welfare scheme of the Government of India which aims to provide wrapped bottled gas (LPG) cylinders instead of vegetarian clothes to the poor class households. Its main objective is to provide clean, energy-conserving and equitable cooking facilities to poor women and their families. On the launch of this scheme, programs will be organized by the government on Sunday at about 70 places in different parts of the country to spread wide awareness among the beneficiaries. More than 600 artisans and craftsmen will participate in this special occasion at the Dr. TMA Pai International Convention Center in Mangalore. These will include traditional boat makers, fishing net makers, goldsmiths, carpenters, sculptors, tailors and potters etc.
The arts and crafts of India are distinctive, rich in antiquity, values and convictions. Traditional artisans and craftsmen, commonly known as ‘Vishwakarmas’, work in an artistic capacity. These artisans create objects with their hands using traditional tools and techniques.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Prime Minister will launch this scheme at the India International Convention and Expo Center (IICC) located in Dwarka in the capital.
The Central Government had announced the launch of ‘PM Vishwakarma’ scheme in the Union Budget 2023-24. The financial outlay for this scheme has been kept at Rs 13,000 crore from financial year 2023-24 to financial year 2027-28.
The objective of the scheme is to promote and strengthen the practice of traditional skills by artisans and craftsmen working with their hands and tools and to improve the quality as well as accessibility of their products and services.
