  • In Pune Porsche Accident Case, Another Big Allegation Against Maharashtra Minister, MLA |

    New Delhi: Amidst the investigation in the Pune Porsche accident case, another allegation has been made against Maharashtra’s MLA after Sassoon Hospital’s dean Vinayak Kale claimed to have received a letter from a minister and an MLA earlier asking for the elevation of Dr Ajay Tawade as the head of the Hospital’s Forensic Medicine Department. After the dean made serious allegations, he was sent on leave. The dean alleged that one of the two doctors, accused of replacing the blood samples of the teenager responsible for the Porsche accident case, was made head of the Forensic department on the endorsement of a state minister and the local MLA.

    MLA Sunil Tingre also faced allegations of visiting the Yerwada police station and asking officials to go easy in an accident case in which two people were killed.

    The hospital’s dean, Vinayak Kale, addressed the press conference on Wednesday and said that Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif and Mr Tingre had asked that Dr Ajay Tawade be made the head of Sassoon Hospital’s Forensic Medicine Department. Both Mr Mushrif and the MLA are from the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party, which is in power in Maharashtra in an alliance with the BJP and the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena. 

    Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the hospital’s dean, Vinayak Kale, said Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif and Mr Tingre asked in their letter that Dr Ajay Tawade be made the head of Sassoon Hospital’s Forensic Medicine Department, as per NDTV. Both MLAs are part of Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party which is currently ruling the state in alliance with BJP.

    Dr Kale was sent on compulsory leave by the Maharashtra government for failing to make proper decisions. This conclusion comes after a few hours of press conference.

    On Monday, Mr Tawade and Dr Shrihari Harnor, the Chief Medical Officer of Sassoon Hospital were arrested for replacing the blood sample of the minor accused with someone who did not consume alcohol.

    Dr Kale also said that Dr Tawade and Mr Ghatkamble have been suspended, while Dr Harnor’s contract has been terminated.

    Pune Porche Case: The Pune Police Crime Branch unit on Saturday morning arrested the grandfather of the minor accused of killing two motocycle-borne persons in Pune City earlier this week after ramming into them the luxury car he was allegedly driving.

    The commissioner of Pune city police, Amitesh Kumar said that the grandfather of the accused was arrested. A separate FIR has been registered against him under IPC sections 365 and 368.

    The Pune City Police had on Thursday questioned the 17-year-old’s grandfather in connection with the incident that took place early on Sunday morning in Pune’s Kayani Nagar. The accused teenager was reportedly driving a luxury car in an inebriated condition and hit two motorcycle borne IT professionals identified as Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta.

    Along with the grandfather of the accused- Surendra Kumar Agarwal, his son Vishal Agarwal has also been booked in the same FIR under IPC Sections of 342,365, 368, 506 and 34 on the complaint of the family driver, Gangadhar, Pune Police CP said.

    The driver Gangadhar had lodged a complaint with police alleging that he was taken to Surendra Agarwal’s home against his will on the night of May 19 when Gangadhar was leaving from from the Yerawada Police Station.

    Surendra and his son Vishal allegedly threatened Gangadhar, snatched his phone and forcibly kept him confined in their bungalow in an attempt to force him to take responsibility for the crime instead of his minor grandson. The accused has been detained at an observation home on the order of the Juvenile Justice Board. He was earlier granted bail in the case but later sent to the observation home for 14 days till June 5.

    The accused teenager’s father, Vishal Agarwal, who was arrested earlier, is lodged in Yerawada Central Prison after he was granted judicial custody for 14 days. The Pune Police commissioner earlier said that efforts were on to try the minor accused as an adult. He confirmed that an effort was made to frame the person employed for driving the Porsche car after the accident, and added that police are investigating his statement.

    Two IT professionals were mowed to death by a teen driving a Porsche; the Pune City Police on Thursday questioned the 17-year-old’s grandfather in connection with the horrific hit-and-run incident. 
    The minor ploughed his swanky race car into the two IT professionals, who were travelling on a bike, killing them on the spot. A forensic team examined the Porsche car involved in the accident, an official said.

    “A team today conducted the examination of the car, which is in the possession of the Yerawada police station. We have already carried out the forensic examination of the spot and now the car has also been examined. The technical aspects such as GPS, the cameras around the car were examined,” said another senior police officer, who is currently monitoring the investigation.

    Probe Continues With Grandfather, Father

    “Since the luxury car is in the name of the realty firm owned by the Agarwals, the grandfather of the minor, who is one of the owners of the firm, was questioned in regards to the ownership of the car,” he said.

    The Mumbai Crime Branch, which is probing the hit-and-run case, summoned the grandfather of the accused teen in a bid to grill him jointly with the latter’s father, a police officer added. The sleuths also summoned the accused teen’s driver and friend to piece together the sequence of events on the night before the hit-and-run incident, the officer informed. According to senior officials, all four were grilled in unison by an officer of DCP rank.

    What Did The Driver Say? 

    Officials in the Crime Branch confirmed that the police were bidding to make the driver a witness in the case, as on the night of the incident, after the accused left the bar after a binging session with friends, the latter had asked the teen to take the passenger seat and let him drive.

    However, the juvenile called his father, who later rang up the driver, asking him to let his son drive the Porsche.

    Authorities Sieze Minor’s Father’s Phone

    The sleuths also confirmed to have seized the mobile phone of the accused teen’s father, adding that they were in the process of checking his call details. After the questioning on Thursday, the police asked the juvenile’s grandparent to appear for questioning again before the Crime Branch.

    Intense Grilling Underway For Bar Owners, Manager

    The teen’s father, the bar owners as well as the manager, who are currently in police custody, were being subjected to intense grilling before the term of their custody expires on Friday. They are to be produced before a court, which would decide on an extension of custody for leads in the case.

    Juvenile Justice Act To Be Reviewed? 

    Meanwhile, BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Medha Kulkarni posted on X saying that the accident showed the Juvenile Justice Act needs to be reviewed as so-called minors like this boy are using the law to get away with serious crimes.

    Two young IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh, identified as Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhia, were killed after the teen gored his Porsche into them in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar on the night of May 19. 

     

  • Pune Porsche Accident: Ink Attack On Police Vehicle Carrying Vishal Agarwal, Father Of Accused |

    Some people allegedly attempted to throw ink at the police vehicle transporting the father of a 17-year-old boy, whose speeding luxury car killed two software engineers in Pune, to a local court, news agency PTI reported.
    The incident occurred around 2.30 p.m. when the teenager’s father, who was arrested on Tuesday evening after being detained in central Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar town, was being brought to the court complex in the Shivajinagar area here for his appearance before the additional sessions court judge, he stated.

    The car, a Porsche, allegedly driven by the boy, who the police say was drunk at the time of the accident, fatally knocked down two bike-borne engineers in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar in the early hours of Sunday.

    “As per the preliminary information, four to five people belonging to some outfit tried to throw ink at the police vehicle escorting the father of the juvenile accused,” an official with the Pune Police said. The car accident killed Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both 24-year-old IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh who worked in Pune.

    Following the car crash, the police filed a case against the teenager’s father under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act, as well as relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Section 75 addresses “wilful neglect of a child or exposing a child to mental or physical illnesses,” whereas Section 77 addresses “supplying a child with intoxicating liquor or drugs.”
