  • IND vs BAN: Ashwin And Jadeja Star As India Thrashes Bangladesh By 280 Runs In First Test | cricket news

IND vs BAN: India secured a commanding win in the first Test against Bangladesh, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja once again proved their worth with the bat and ball, leading India to a dominant performance that outclassed the visitors in all departments.

Ashwin Jadeja Rescue Act: India Posts 376 Despite Early Collapse

Inserted to bat on a seam-friendly deck, India found themselves in a precarious position at 144/6. Ravichandran Ashwin then walked in and transformed the innings with a positive approach. He scored his sixth Test century and partnered with Ravindra Jadeja in a crucial 199-run stand that shifted the momentum back in India’s favour. Ashwin’s fluent 100-plus innings and Jadeja’s steady contribution helped India post a formidable total of 376.

Bangladesh’s Batting Falters: India Dominates with the Ball

In reply, Bangladesh’s innings crumbled under pressure, getting bowled out for just 149 in under two sessions. The only highlight of their batting was a fifty-run stand between Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das. India’s bowlers, led by Ashwin and supported by Jadeja, maintained tight lines and consistently challenged the batters. Ashwin’s clever variations and Jadeja’s relentless accuracy ensured Bangladesh never found any rhythm.

India Sets Mammoth Target: Pant and Gill Shine with Centuries

Choosing not to enforce the follow-on, India batted again with intent. Centuries from Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill powered India to declare their second innings at 287/4, setting Bangladesh an improbable target of over 500 runs. Pant, continuing his sublime form, scored a spectacular 109, while Gill’s unbeaten 119 further compounded Bangladesh’s woes.

Final Day Collapse: Spin Duo Rips Through Bangladesh

Bangladesh started their chase positively, with their openers putting together a fifty-run partnership. However, four late wickets on the previous day left them reeling at the start of the final day. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan showed resilience in the first hour, but the spin web cast by Ashwin and Jadeja proved too much.

After the drinks break, Ashwin, the local favourite, broke the partnership, triggering a collapse. Bangladesh lost their last five wickets for just 29 runs, collapsing from 205/5 to 234 all out. Shanto top-scored with a gritty 82 but lacked support from the other end. Jadeja took three wickets, while Ashwin capped off a sensational match with a six-wicket haul to add to his century.

    Clinical India Takes 1-0 Lead

India’s all-round performance outclassed Bangladesh, as the hosts dominated with both bat and ball. Ashwin and Jadeja’s contributions were pivotal in both innings, showcasing their value to the team. With this comprehensive win, India heads into the final Test with great confidence, while Bangladesh will look to regroup and make a comeback in the series decider.

    The Moment of Magic

As KL Rahul, the skipper of Lucknow Super Giants, unleashed a ferocious cut shot off Matheesha Pathirana’s delivery in the 18th over, it seemed destined for the boundary. However, fate had a different plan as the ball soared towards backward point, where Jadeja was positioned. With lightning reflexes and impeccable timing, Jadeja leapt to his left, defying gravity to pluck the ball out of thin air with just one hand.

    The Reaction

The stadium erupted into a frenzy as spectators and players alike stood witness to Jadeja’s extraordinary feat. CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad could only manage to cover his mouth in disbelief, while commentators struggled to find words to describe the sheer brilliance of the catch. Ravi Shastri, in his characteristic style, declared it possibly the “catch of the tournament,” a sentiment echoed by cricketing pundits worldwide.

    The Impact

While Jadeja’s one-handed blinder marked a pivotal moment in the match, it was KL Rahul’s masterful innings that set the stage for Lucknow Super Giants’ victory. Rahul’s 82 runs off 53 balls, coupled with Quinton de Kock’s solid contribution, propelled LSG to a comfortable eight-wicket win over CSK. Despite the setback of losing their captain to an exceptional catch, LSG emerged victorious, reaffirming their prowess in the tournament.

    Jadeja’s Versatility

Beyond his fielding heroics, Ravindra Jadeja showcased his all-round brilliance throughout the match. His impactful half-century with the bat laid the foundation for Chennai Super Kings’ competitive total of 176 runs. Furthermore, his exceptional catch highlighted his invaluable contribution to the team’s success, earning him accolades from fans, teammates, and opponents alike.

    The Aftermath

Jadeja’s one-handed blinder reverberated across social media platforms, with the catch quickly gaining viral status. Cricket enthusiasts marveled at the display of athleticism and skill, with many hailing it as one of the greatest catches in IPL history. As the tournament progresses, Jadeja’s catch will undoubtedly remain etched in the memories of fans, serving as a testament to the enduring magic of the sport.

  • Chennai Super Kings’ SWOT Analysis: One Big WEAKNESS In MS Dhoni’s CSK Can Hurt Them Immensely | cricket news

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) open their Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22 at their homeground. CSK are five-time champions and in what is likely to be Dhoni’s last season with CSK in IPL, the franchise wants to finish as the most successful franchise in the T20 league by winning the record-making sixth title. In an interview to ESPNcricinfo, coach Stephen Fleming spoke of how the team environment helps this ‘Yellow Brigade’ find consistency. There is a sense of belongingness to CSK that allows players to feel at home and as a result, they set out to achieve the best results for the team.

MS Dhoni is not a leader who works more on data. While numbers, matchups are important in IPL and T20 cricket, Dhoni drives this team on trust and confidence. He chooses his best XI right from the first match and backs them to the hilt unless some of them really go out of form or an injury occurs. Dhoni’s incredible belief in his team and also understanding what is their weakness and how to cleverly hide it, makes him one of the best captains in this competition. Surely, winning five titles is not a sign of a ‘lucky’ captain.

Ahead of IPL 2024, CSK look a solid squad again. But they have been hit by a series of injuries while some new players have joined forces. Let’s do a SWOT analysis of CSK, looking at their strengths, weaknesses, opportunity and threat. Read on.

    strength

Make no mistake about it, CSK’s biggest strength is their leader MS Dhoni. A captain plays a huge role in a competition such as IPL and CSK have been lucky to have Dhoni’s services right from the start. With Dhoni at helm, what worked for CSK is that they stuck with a core group of players, year after year. The Rainas, Husseys, Rayudus may have left, but Dhoni has found a new core in Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane, Deepak Chahar, Moeen Ali and himself. The franchise does not like to do choppings and changes.

Additionally, their batting looks very strong with Gaikwad, Rahane, Shivam Dube, Jadeja, Dhoni in the mix. The fact that CSK will play 7 games at home, they have quality spinners at the helm to bowl on the slow and low wickets in the form of Jadeja, Mitchell Santner and Moeen.

    weakness

In totality, CSK do look a very good squad. But when you use a lens to look into the little details, there is one short coming. There is no Matheesha Pathirana this year which means CSK lack a quality death-overs specialist. If he is not there, CSK will have to make Mustafizur Rahman play. He was bought at the last auction and what a purchase he is already turning out to be. Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande should open the bowling for CSK while Mukesh Choudhary could also be used as an alternative but they all leak runs at the death, which could become a huge worry for CSK in this season. The teams who have hard-hitting batters deep down the order would like to use this weakness as their advantage.

    Opportunity

IPL 2024 provides CSK an opportunity to look at new players such as Mustafizur. He has been a huge asset for teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) but maybe his best is yet to come at CSK. Not to forget, Rachin Ravindra is a likely option for CSK to replace Devon Conway at the top. Whenever Conway returns, Ravindra can go down to No 3 if her performs with the bat in the first few games. Ajinkya Rahane, at the same time, is hungry for runs after struggling in the recently-concluded Ranji Trophy. It will be interesting to see how he goes.

    Threat

What if the tournament is not held in home and away format after the first two weeks of the competition. BCCI secretary has reportedly said that IPL will be played entirely in India despite the Lok Sabha elections. This is good news for teams who prosper in home conditions. But LS elections will go on simultaneously and if IPL, as a result, is played in just a few places, the home advantage could be compromised for some teams. CSK would be hoping they get to play 7 games at least at Chepauk as their squad is built keeping the home and away format in India. This is a huge potential threat for MS Dhoni’s men ahead of IPL 2024.

    CSK Updated Squad

Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni (c), Moeen Ali, Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Shivam Dube, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Ravindra Jadeja, Ajay Mandal, Mukesh Choudhary, Ajinkya Rahane, Shaik Rasheed, Mitchell Santner, Simarjeet Singh, Nishant. Sindhu, Prashant Solanki, Maheesh Theekshana, Rachin Ravindra, Shardul Thakur, Daryl Mitchell, Sameer Rizvi, Mustafizur Rahman, Avanish Rao Aravelly.

Players injured/withdrawn: Devon Conway, Matheesha Pathirana.

    CSK Schedule (Announced so far):

Match 1: Chennai Super Kings v Royal Challengers Bangalore, Friday, March 22, 8pm, Chennai

Match 7: Chennai Super Kings v Gujarat Titans, Tuesday, March 26, 7.30pm, Chennai

Match 13: Delhi Capitals v Chennai Super Kings, Sunday, March 31, 7.30pm, Vizag

  • India Vs England 5th Test Playing 11s: Will KL Rahul And Jasprit Bumrah Return For Dharamsala Test? What We Know So Far | cricket news

India’s wicketkeeper and batsman KL Rahul played just one Test before he was ruled out of the second due to an issue in his quadriceps. He was rested in Visakhapatnam but even after a long gap before the Rajkot game, Rahul was only at 90 percent fitness and BCCI didn’t risk including him in the squad. He has not attained full fitness yet and also missed the Ranchi Test. As per a new report on Cricbuzz, Rahul’s participation in Dharamsala is still unclear as the batsman has flown to London for an expert opinion on his injury.

Rahul is still feeling pain in his right quadriceps for which he had undergone a surgery in London. He made his comeback in Asia Cup 2023 after which he successfully played in the ODI World Cup and in South Africa. But the pain is back and BCCI as well as National Croquet Academy (NCA) don’t want to take any risks with him as the cricketer is of utmost importance to them.

With India already 3-1 up in the series, BCCI might not want to take any risk with a 90 percent fit Rahul. It has also been reported that one more batter and one bowler might be rested in Dharamsala as BCCI looks to manage workload of players.

The good news for Jasprit Bumrah fans is that he is likely to return for the Dharamshala Test. This is the ground which offers assistance to the Pacers and for the first time in the series we might get to see three paces in both the playing 11s.

Coming back to Rahul, he also leads Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The fact that he is very close to regaining full fitness means Rahul is certain to play IPL 2024. Even if he misses the first few games, he should be able to get back to LSG midway through the season.

As far as England are concerned, they are unlikely to make massive changes to the playing 11 knowing they would want to finish the series on a high note, going back with a 3-2 scoreline rather than 4-1. One change that may want to make is including Dan Lawrence in place of Jonny Bairstow. Lawrence has been warming the bench so far and with Bairstow in such a poor form, Lawrence can be tried at the No 5 slot. Knowing fast-paced nature of Dharamsala pitch, we might also see three pacers also in England XI in the form of James Anderson, Mark Wood and Ollie Robinson. As per report, England and India are set to fly to Dharamsala on March 2.

India’s playing 11 for 5th Test Vs England may look like this: Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal (Devdutt Padikkal), Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Axar Patel/Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj

England probable playing 11: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow/Dan Lawrence, Ben Stokes, Ben Foakes, Tom Hartley, James Anderson, Mark Wood, Ollie Robinson

  • Sarfaraz Khan’s Father Compares His Son With THIS Pakistan Cricket Legend | cricket news

In a cricketing world that is constantly evolving, emerging talents are the lifeblood of the sport. Sarfaraz Khan, a name resonating in the cricketing circles, is set to make his international debut in the second Test against England. What sets him apart, however, is not just his impeccable record in domestic cricket but the fascinating story behind his journey, as shared exclusively with JioCinema. Sarfaraz Khan, at 26, already carries the weight of immense expectations on his shoulders. Interestingly, he draws inspiration from a cricketing legend, Javed Miandad. In a candid revelation, Sarfaraz mentions that his father sees a striking resemblance between his batting style and that of the Pakistani great. This familial connection to Miandad adds a layer of sentiment and aspiration to Sarfaraz’s pursuit of excellence.

Sarfaraz Khan said, “I like to watch Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, Sir Vivian Richards. I also enjoy watching Joe Root play.” (JioCinema).pic.twitter.com/ybIfqjYph9

    — Virat Kohli Fan Club (@Trend_VKohli) February 1, 2024

“I like to watch Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Sir Vivian Richards, and even Javed Miandad because my dad has told me that I play like him. I watch Joe Root’s batting also. Anyone who is succeeding, I am watching them to see how they are doing it so I can learn and apply it when I am in the middle. I want to continue doing this, whether it’s in the Ranji Trophy or playing for India in the future,” said Sarfaraz to JioCinema.

    Daily Grind and Observations

Sarfaraz’s commitment to his craft is evident in his rigorous training routine. Playing 500-600 balls every day has become a habit, and he attributes his success to an insatiable hunger for improvement. ‘My strength is that I am not satisfied easily. I play 500-600 balls every day. If I don’t play at least 200-300 balls in a match, I feel like I haven’t done much. It’s a habit now. Practice in the morning, afternoon, and evening. I am used to only one thing, batting and facing deliveries. If you want to play five-day cricket, you have to stay patient and practice every day. I play cricket all day and that’s why I can stay on the pitch for a long time,’ Khan said.

    The Road to International Cricket

Having enjoyed tremendous success in the domestic circuit, Sarfaraz’s call-up to the Indian Test team is a testament to his consistent performance. His prolific run-getting ability, showcased by a splendid 161 off 160 balls against England Lions, sets the stage for a promising international career. The unexpected opportunities arising from injuries to key players like Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul opened the door for Sarfaraz to prove his mettle on the grand stage.

    Father’s Role in the Journey

Behind every successful athlete is a support system that fuels their dreams. Sarfaraz acknowledges the pivotal role his father, Naushad, played in shaping his cricketing journey. From introducing him to the sport to providing unwavering support during challenging times, Sarfaraz recognizes the impact of his father’s efforts. The father-son duo’s commitment is a narrative that resonates with aspiring cricketers and fans alike.

“My father introduced me to cricket, and I always wondered why am I even playing. By nature I am an attacking batsman and I used to get out sooner than other and scoring big runs was getting difficult. It was disheartening to see others succeed while I wouldn’t be among the runs. Even when I moved from Mumbai to UP, he would take flights to come and see me. He would start bowling to me on the terrace or the road itself before selection trials. Now I realize the impact. and importance of those efforts. When I came back to Mumbai from UP, I was scared if this would bring a halt to my career and I strongly felt there was no future ahead of me, but my dad always stood by me. There’s no guarantee. in life if you don’t get opportunities. But my dad always believed in hard work, and everything I have is a result of that work,” he added.

    Decision Dilemma: Patidar or Sarfaraz

As India faces the challenge of filling the void left by KL Rahul’s absence, the debate emerges: Rajat Patidar or Sarfaraz Khan? Both players boast impressive first-class records, making the decision a tough one for the team management. Patidar’s experience in high-pressure situations, especially in the IPL, contrasts with Sarfaraz’s ability to thrive on Indian pitches.
