  • IMD Warns Of Intense Rains In Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra: Check Full Forecast |

    New Delhi: A depression over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining east Rajasthan has intensified into a deep depression, the India Meteorological Department said on Monday and warned of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in parts of the two states and Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra over the next two to three days.

    At 11:30 pm on August 25, the deep depression lay centred near 70 km south-southeast of Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. This system is expected to move west-southwest, affecting South Rajasthan, and Gujarat, and reaching Saurashtra, Kutch, and parts of Pakistan by August 29, the IMD said in an update issued at 2 am.

    The weather department said another low-pressure area is located over Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal. It is likely to intensify further and move towards Gangetic West Bengal, north Odisha, and Jharkhand over the next two days.

    Issuing a red alert, the IMD said heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in West Madhya Pradesh on August 26. Similar conditions are forecast for east and south Rajasthan, Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch from August 26 to 29.

    Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand are also expected to receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next two days.

    The IMD has warned of strong winds reaching up to 50 kmph in Madhya Pradesh on August 26 and up to 60 kmph in south Rajasthan on August 26-27.

    In Gujarat, nearby Pakistan, north Maharashtra, and the northeast Arabian Sea, strong winds gusting up to 55 kmph are expected on August 26, increasing to 60 kmph on August 27 and 28.

    Rough to very rough sea conditions are anticipated off the coasts of Gujarat, Pakistan, and north Maharashtra until August 30. Rough seas are also expected in the North Bay of Bengal on August 26.

    The IMD has advised fisherfolk to avoid venturing into the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, especially around the coasts of Gujarat, Pakistan, and Maharashtra, until August 30. Small ships and exploration and production operators have been asked to monitor weather developments and take necessary precautions.

    People are advised to avoid areas prone to waterlogging and check for traffic advisories before travelling. Farmers in the affected areas should ensure proper drainage in fields and provide support to crops, according to the IMD.

    The IMD has also warned of potential localized flooding, road closures, and waterlogging, particularly in urban areas. There is a risk of landslides and damage to horticultural crops due to inundation in the affected regions.

    New Delhi: Several parts of the national capital received heavy rainfall on Thursday bringing relief from the continuous heat and scorching sun. However, the temperature has decreased a few degrees the monsoon current is expected to arrive by the end of this week, said a private weather agency forecast on Wednesday cited by PTI. 

    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not provided any information regarding the expected timing of the monsoon’s arrival in the national capital. The weather update on Wednesday predicted heavy rainfall in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on June 28th and 29th, 2024.

    The weather department has said that intermittent rain could occur throughout the day in Delhi-NCR today. Rain may continue in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Gurugram until 10 a.m.

    As per the news agency, the monsoon typically enters Delhi between June 27 and 29. 

    Last year, it arrived on June 26, while the first monsoon showers of 2022 were documented on June 30, as per available data.

    On Wednesday, the Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi’s main weather station, recorded a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees above the normal mark. 

    The city’s weather patterns have been influenced by a western disturbance, leading to a decrease in maximum temperatures. Pre-monsoon showers in Delhi have provided some relief from the intense heat.

    Delhi had experienced scorching temperatures, with nine heatwave days recorded in June so far, contrasting with none in 2023 and 2022.

  • Weather Update: IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall For Sikkim, West Bengal, Heatwave In Uttar Pradesh |

    New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted very heavy rainfall over the sub-Himalayan regions of Sikkim, Assam and West Bengal, while the regions of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to experience heavy rainfall on Saturday, June 15. 


    IMD predicts thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with a speed of 40-50 kmph, very likely to prevail over the area of Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Goa, Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka. The department informed that the coastal parts of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal can experience squally weather today.

    IMD Alerts For Heatwave

    The Meteorological Department raised a Red alert for the regions of Uttar Pradesh as the state continues to experience a heatwave today. The Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj experienced the maximum temperature of 46.9 degrees Celsius on Friday. The red alert was raised for Mathura, Hathras, Agara, Firozabad, Manipur, Pratapgarh, and Gorakhpur, while the orange alert was raised for Mahoba, Lalitpur, Raebareli, Arodhya, Amethi and others.

    Other than Uttar Pradesh, the IMD also predicted heatwave for Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab, while, hot and humid weather is likely to prevail over Odisha.

    According to IMD, Delhi can experience a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius on Saturday, While Bengal is likely to experience Heavy rainfall today, IMD raised a red alert for Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong and Alipurduar due to Extreme rainfall.

    New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department predicted hot and humid weather over the region of Jharkhand Odisha, Assam, Goa, Tripura and Meghalaya on Saturday. While Uttar Pradesh is expected to continue its Warm night conditions Kariyana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience heat weave conditions in May. 

    IMD raised an orange alert for states like Bihar, and Gurarat, while a red alert raised for Rajasthan. As per IMD predictions, the heat wave-like situation is likely to continue in the coming days for the states like Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gujarat.

    Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan To Soar Heat Wave

    Uttar Pradesh’s Agar and Rajasthan’s Barmar experienced the maximum temperature of 46.9 and 46,5 degrees Celcius on Friday, While Matdya Pradesh’s Gwalior experienced 44.9 degrees Celsius temperature yesterday.

    IMD Fordcast For Rainfall And Thunderstroms

    The department predicted thunderstorms with lighting and gusty wind over the region of Karnataka, Nagaland, Manipur and coastal Andhra Pradesh, While, heavy rainfall to serve over the region of Assam and Meghalaya, Puducherry and Nagaland.
