  • Weather Update: Cyclonic Circulation Brings Rains In Gujarat, IMD Issues ‘Orange’ Alert For Delhi |

    New Delhi: As monsoon arrived in major part of the country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday raised an ‘orange’ alert for heavy rain in the region of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and some districts of Maharastra. 

    Parts of the national capital including Rohini and Burari, received rainfall this morning. The department has forecast moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms for the coming days.

    “Delhi is likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day, with an even heavier spell anticipated on Sunday and Monday,” the IMD said, PTI reported.

    Cyclonic Circulation Brings Widespread Rains In Gujarat

    The weather department released the statement saying cyclonic circulation active over south Gujarat brought widespread rains in several parts of the state and this will continue for the coming few days. IMD has issued a yellow alert for south Gujarat, predicting the possibility of heavy showers.

    “The cyclonic circulation over central Gujarat and neighbourhood now lies over south Gujarat and extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level tilting southwards. Due to the above-mentioned systems, Gujarat is very likely to receive an active wet spell during the next five days” said IMD in a release, PTI reported.

    According to the release, there are forecasts of heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Valsad and Navsari districts, as well as the adjoining Union Territory of Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli on Saturday.

    IMD Forecasts For Southwest India 

    The current northern limit of the monsoon extends through Jaisalmer and Churu in Rajasthan, Bhiwani, Delhi, Aligarh, Hardoi, Moradabad, Una (Western UP), Pathankot in Punjab, and Jammu.

    The meteorological department on Saturday announced that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into the remaining parts of East Uttar Pradesh and some more parts of West Uttar Pradesh.

    New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a severe heatwave condition over the region of  Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha on Friday. The humid weather can prevail over Gangetic West Bengal and Goa on May 31 as the temperature is rising high over the region. 


    IMD Alerts For Haryana’s Districts 

    IMD issues an alert for Haryana due to the rising temperature in the state.  On Thursday, Haryana’s Hissar reported the maximum temperature of 47 degrees Celsius, while, Narnaul reported 47.5 degrees Celsius and Rohtak 47.5 degrees Celsius. As the temperature is rising high in different parts of the state,  the department raised orange alert for Bhiwani, Rohtak, Hissar, Charki Dadri, Jhajjar, Jind, Fatehabad and Panipat, while, the yellow alert was raised for Karnal and Kaithal. 

    Prediction For Rainfall In India


    IMD predicted heavy rainfall on Friday over the region of Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Kerala, and Tripura. States like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, coastal Arunachal Pradesh, and coastal Karnataka are likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning and gusty wind on May 30.

    IMD predicted a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius in Delhi and 35 degrees Celsius for Kolkata, while, Bengaluru is likely to witness rainfall with thunderstorms on May 31.

    It will rain in Uttar Pradesh

    There is a possibility of lightning along with thunder at one or two places in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. There may be rain and thundershowers at one or two places in Western Uttar Pradesh and at some places in Purvanchal. After this, there are chances of rain and thundershowers at some places in the entire state on 22, 23 and 24 September.

    According to Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with isolated heavy falls over Kutch region of Gujarat, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, parts of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh and Konkan and Goa. There is a possibility. Whereas in Northeast India, Coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Uttarakhand, there may be one or two intense rains along with light to moderate rains.

    Light to moderate rain expected in these states

    According to Skymet Weather, there are chances of light to moderate rain in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Vidarbha, Telangana, Konkan and Goa, West Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Interior Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. There may be light rain in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat region, some parts of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.
