WhatsApp New Feature: WhatsApp, an instant messaging app, has rolled out a new ‘Tagging’ feature which allows users to like status updates, make private mentions, and reshare status.

The new ‘tagging feature’ aims to offer better engagement on the platform, according to the company. With this new feature, users can mention up to five individuals in each status and can privately tag someone without displaying their names. Those mentioned will receive a notification.

Notably, these features are already available for Instagram Stories. Meta has now started rolling out these features for WhatsApp, which will be widely available in the coming days. According to the company, WhatsApp Status is the best way to stay connected with friends and family, and now we’re making it even better.

To Tag Someone In WhatsApp Status These Things Needs To Be Done

To tag someone in a WhatsApp Status, a few steps need to be followed. First, ensure that you are using the latest version of the WhatsApp app and have an active account. When tagging someone, it’s important to note that the tag is private, meaning only the person tagged will be aware of it. Others who view your status will not know that someone has been tagged.

How To Tag Someone In WhatsApp Status On Android

Step 1: Open the WhatsApp app on your smartphone.

Step 2: Navigate to the “Status” tab located at the bottom or top of the screen.

  • WhatsApp Chats To Be Automatically Translated On Android, New Feature In The Works: Reports |

New Delhi: Foreign language or a language not known to you might not bother you with WhatsApp’s upcoming new feature, that will automatically translate it on Android, said reports.

As per an information shared by WABetaInfo, Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature to translate all chat messages, and it will be available in a future update!

“In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.15.8 update, we announced that WhatsApp is working on a feature to translate messages using language packs. Through this improvement, it will enable users to easily communicate in multiple languages without needing external translation apps. The ability to translate messages instantly during conversations will help maintain the flow of communication, making it easier for users to understand and respond in real-time,” wrote WABetaInfo.

“Although this feature is still in development, it seems that WhatsApp is now committed to further enhancing this functionality through new automatic translation options. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.15.9 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to translate all chat messages!,”  WABetaInfo added.

Sharing a screenshot, WABetaInfo said that though previously it had explained that the upcoming feature relies on Google’s live translation technology to operate directly on the user device, the latest update has made its previous assumption incorrect. WhatsApp is instead working on its in-house technology to support the chat translation, it said.

“Although we shared a screenshot of Google’s live translation sheet, which appeared for other reasons, it looks like WhatsApp is actually developing its own in-house technology to support message translation. This approach still preserves end-to-end encryption as their solution will process messages on-device. Therefore, WhatsApp needs to download some language packs to translate messages,” WABetaInfo.

What New It Brings And How Different From Previous One?

Previously, users had to manually select their desired media quality with each photo or video upload. However, this upcoming update eliminates the need for repetitive selection by allowing users to set their preferences in the settings.

Option To Change Quality On Preview Screen

WhatsApp initially introduced the HD Photo Sharing feature in August 2023, followed by support for high-resolution videos. While users currently have the option to change quality on the preview screen, the new feature defaults to the preference set in the settings.

    Platform Availability

While the feature has been reported for Android, its availability on iOS or the desktop app remains unconfirmed. Additionally, it’s important to note that none of the current options allow users to send media in its original resolution, especially for large files. To achieve this, users must share media as a document.

  • The most powerful feature is coming to Whatsapp! Now you can send photos in ‘HD quality’

It will soon be possible to transfer photos in HD quality through WhatsApp. The Meta-owned app has released a new beta update related to it. WhatsApp has started testing the feature for the latest iOS and beta versions. At present, if any photo is sent through WhatsApp by default, it gets compressed. This affects the quality of the photo. People often say that the quality is not good when photos are sent through WhatsApp. This problem is about to be resolved. A feature may soon come on WhatsApp, with the help of which users will be able to send high-quality images. Social media consultant Matt Navarra was the first to spot this feature. While sharing some details of the feature, he has shared a screenshot. The option to send photos in HD quality is visible in the screenshot. HD quality images are clearer, but they consume more data and space than standard quality photos. This means that sending HD photos will cost more data. The space required to store HD photos will also be more. Meanwhile, WABetaInfo has shared another information related to the upcoming feature of WhatsApp. It is reported that this feature is currently available on iOS beta version 23.11.0.76 and Android beta version 2.23.12.13. According to the report, even after selecting the HD quality option, WhatsApp will compress the photo a bit. The standard quality option will be the default for sending the photo. To send HD photos, the user will have to select that option every time. When sending an HD photo, WhatsApp will also put a small HD icon in the thumbnail along with it. However, with the help of this feature, HD photos cannot be added to the status. According to the report, this feature may come to all users in the next few weeks.
