    Abhishek also revealed that the carnage he caused in Harare was from skipper Shubman Gill’s bat. The young opener acknowledged the fact that he uses Gill’s bat whenever he wants to make a comeback after going through a lean patch.

    “I played with his bat only, which I found very difficult. He didn’t even give it to me easily. This has been going on since I was under 14. Whenever I have played from his bat, it’s good. Kohli, who will be featuring for the sixth time in the T20 World Cup tournament, has set his eyes on the coveted trophy.

    Yuvraj said that the star batsman deserves to win the World Cup medal more than anyone. After participating in the 2011 World Cup winning campaign, Yuvraj stated that Kohli deserved to win another World Cup medal.

    “He has definitely broken all the records in this era. The best batter of this generation, I feel, in all formats. And I think he is also someone who needs a World Cup Medal. He has one. I’m sure he is Not satisfied with one. I think he surely deserves that medal as well,” Yuvraj said in a chat with ICC.

    The T20 World Cup has witnessed some of Kohli’s most memorable knocks, most notably two years ago at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where he stunned over 90,000 spectators with a finish like none other against arch-rivals Pakistan. Virat played one of the most iconic knocks in the format, scoring 82* in just 53 balls, with six fours and four sixes during a tense run-chase of 160 runs when India was 31/4 at one point.

    “I think he understands his game really well. Once he had the confidence to chase and knew the situation, he knew how to bat in these situations, knows which bowlers to attack, which bowlers to take singles off, when to attack again, handle the pressure and when to change his game,” Yuvraj said.

    Kohli’s form in 2024 is not all that far from the 2014. The leading scorer in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 edition, the star batter announced his availability to play Twenty20 Internationals for India prior to the T20 World Cup. He will be the mainstay of the batting lineup once more as India looks to win the title.

    Despite the quick growth of Twenty20, Kohli has not had any difficulty keeping up, amassing 542 runs this IPL 2024 at an average of 67.75 and a strike rate of 148.08.

    “Why I think he was so good was because every time in nets or a practice situation, he would not go and just slog balls. In the nets, he would always bat like he was batting in a match.     Prakhar is born and brought up in Bengaluru. His father is a software engineer and works for start-up while his mother is a technical officer in Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO). In an interview to Indian Express, father Sanjay Chaturvedi said that although he wanted his son to excel in studies, his focus shifted completely to cricket in last couple of years. “We are from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, but I have been living in Bengaluru for more than two decades now. I am an IIT BHU pass-out myself, and obviously, I wanted him to focus on his studies, but for the past couple of years, cricket has taken over. He has good grades in Class XII and is now in BA first year and is pursuing economics,” Chaturvedi said.

    Prakhar was passionate about cricket and used to play the sport for fun when one of his father’s friends pushed him to send him to an academy. His father did the same and Prakhar was then going to SIX academy, which is based at the Padukone-Dravid Center of Sports Excellence in Bangalore.

    Prakhar has received coaching from K Jehswant, former Karnataka player, who feels the boy has a long way to go. “The boy has to go through a lot. He was struggling to make it into the state U-19 team. Not many people believed in his ability. He has been a very good player for us,” said Jeswanth.

    Yuvraj also spoke on the current hot topic in IPL which is Hardik Pandya replacing Rohit Sharma as the captain of Mumbai Indians (MI). Hardik was named as the new leader very soon after he was traded in from Gujarat Titans (GT) to MI last year. This decision by the five-time champions irked the Rohit Sharma fans who eventually started trolling the franchise. MI lost upto 10 lakh followers on Instagram reportedly after this move as Rohit fans shifted their base to other teams.

    But Yuvraj feels that franchises have to think long term as far as captaincy goes and the decision must have been taken looking in future.

    “In franchise cricket, it always gets tough as you get old. Every franchise is always looking to promote a young player on whom they have spent a lot, and that is only fair,” said Yuvraj.

    He also said that he too faced similar situation in the past and understands that there is no substitute to experience.
