ASTR, an indigenously developed AI and Big Data analytics tool, is being utilized to combat cybercrime. The Department of Telecommunications has taken action by disconnecting more than 8.2 million mobile connections. These connections were flagged because they were associated with a single person but registered under different names, failing the re-verification conducted by ASTR. The Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, confirmed this in a written response to the Rajya Sabha.
