The India-AI Impact Summit at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, linked to Expo 2026, featured a compelling joint exhibit by DFPD and WFP. Dedicated to AI’s integration in food security and PDS transparency, it highlighted responsive distribution strategies.
This over-20-year alliance is harnessing AI to make food supply chains smarter and more effective, with real-world demos captivating attendees.
Speaking on the sidelines, DFPD Secretary Sanjeev Chopra demystified the sector’s tech adoption. ‘Food ops were deemed too mundane for AI, but we’re delivering responsiveness beyond transparency. Operations are sharper, services better for end-users,’ he observed positively.
New UN Resident Coordinator Stephen Pszenny was effusive. ‘The summit’s organization and innovation display are outstanding. Proud of the DFPD-WFP efforts to upgrade food distribution,’ he commented.
WFP India Country Director Elizabeth Forbes reinforced the narrative. ‘Our long-standing DFPD partnership powers these AI tools that transform lives and secure food supplies,’ she noted.
As a key element of the summit, it showcases India’s responsible AI leadership for inclusive growth and sustainability. By innovating in food security, India advances its goal of becoming a premier global AI destination, prioritizing citizen benefits.
