When browsing in Incognito Mode, while your browser doesn’t save history, other data might persist. This includes DNS cache, downloaded files, logins, and system-level logs, which can be saved on the local system. If you want to ensure complete privacy, it’s important to clear these as well.
To clear the DNS cache (Windows), open the Start Menu, search for ‘cmd’, and open Command Prompt. Type ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ and press Enter. You should receive a message: ‘Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.’
Downloaded files remain on your device. To delete them, go to your Downloads folder, select the files, and delete them. Finally, empty the Recycle Bin.
Incognito Mode itself doesn’t save cookies, but they might be saved if you accidentally open a website in a normal tab. Go to Chrome, then Settings, then Privacy & Security. Click on Clear Browsing Data. Select ‘Cached images and files’ and ‘cookies’ and click ‘Clear Data’.
