Amidst speculation sparked by reports of TikTok website accessibility, the Indian government has clarified that the ban on the Chinese-owned video platform is still in place. Government sources refuted any claims of an unblocking order, labeling such reports as false and misleading. While some users reported temporary access to the TikTok website, they were unable to fully utilize the platform, and the app remains unavailable on app stores. The initial ban, implemented in 2020, targeted 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, citing threats to national security and user data privacy. Though India and China are exploring avenues for improved relations, including trade and travel, the government has made it clear that the TikTok ban persists.
