A wave of digital patriotism swept India as it bagged the Guinness World Record for the highest number of AI responsibility pledges in 24 hours—250,946 in total. The victory was declared by Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at New Delhi’s India AI Impact Summit 2026, electrifying the audience.
Conducted over February 16-17, 2026, the initiative via aipledge.indiaai.gov.in was a collaboration between India AI Mission and Intel India. It rallied people to pledge adherence to AI best practices: safeguarding privacy, ensuring transparency, promoting accountability, and tackling disinformation.
The response dwarfed expectations of 5,000 pledges, signaling robust public commitment to ethical tech. Vaishnaw lauded PM Modi’s foresight: ‘His inspiration drives us toward AI that betters lives responsibly.’ Rewards included badges and AI skill pathways for pledgers.
At Bharat Mandapam, Guinness representatives certified the record as world leaders and tech titans gathered to deliberate AI’s role in equitable progress. This feat cements India’s stature in global AI ethics, proving mass participation can drive policy and practice.
As AI reshapes economies and societies, India’s record stands as a beacon of responsible innovation. It calls on the world to prioritize humanity in tech evolution, blending ambition with integrity for sustainable digital futures.
