In a dazzling display of market vitality, India’s retail vehicle sales in February surged 25.62% year-over-year to 24.09 lakh units, rewriting records. The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) shared this upbeat data, highlighting a sector embracing growth across the board.
Two-wheelers dominated volume at 17,00,505 units (up 25.02%), powered by farm incomes, liquidity, and dealer incentives. Passenger vehicles reached 3,94,768 (26.12% rise), with rural 34.21% growth dwarfing urban 21.12%. Commercial vehicles hit 1,00,820 (28.89% up), buoyed by freight, online trade, and projects. Three-wheelers gained 24.39%, tractors 36.35%; only construction dipped 1.22%.
March outlook? Dealers are overwhelmingly bullish—75% expect more sales, few see decline. Post-GST 2.0 pricing clarity has unlocked demand, blending urban aspirations with rural revival.
Notably, small cars thrive on village roads, yet SUVs rule premiums. This broad-based rally underscores India’s auto resilience amid global headwinds, with e-commerce and infra as key catalysts. FADA’s insights suggest the momentum could accelerate, heralding a golden era for manufacturers and buyers alike.
