The first quarter of 2025 saw a dynamic performance by India’s telecom industry. The report highlighted key trends from January to March 2025. Wireless (mobile + 5G FWA) users increased by 13.10 million, reaching a total of 1,163.76 million. The rural sector saw continued expansion of mobile and broadband. Despite this, broadband growth nearly stalled. The wireline subscriber base contracted by 5.67 percent. Tele-density increased to 85.04 percent, with rural areas accounting for a significant share. The number of internet users slightly decreased, while broadband subscriptions saw a marginal decline. The average monthly data consumption per user reached 22.19 GB. Average revenue per GB was ₹9.11. The wireless ARPU rose to ₹182.95. Gross revenue for the telecom sector grew to ₹98,250 crore. Adjusted Gross Revenue reached ₹79,226 crore. Providers met essential Quality of Service (QoS) standards. The report also detailed permitted private satellite TV channels, active pay DTH users, and operational private FM radio channels.
