According to cybersecurity firm Genians, hackers created a deepfake of a South Korean military ID to send malicious emails. This deepfake made the phishing attacks difficult to detect. The phishing attack is attributed to the North Korean hacker group Kimsuky, known for its cyber espionage activities. This group has been implicated in previous cyberattacks against South Korea. Researchers found that the hackers prepared a deepfake draft of a South Korean military ID to increase the credibility of phishing emails.
