An AI startup, Perplexity AI, is seeking to acquire Google Chrome. The company has put forward an offer of $34.5 billion for the popular internet browser. This offer is notably higher than Chrome’s estimated market value of $18 billion. Google has yet to respond, and it is currently appealing a court decision accusing the company of a monopoly in online search. The US Justice Department has recommended separating Chrome in this case.
