India’s skill revolution accelerates with PMKVY 4.0, which has trained 27.08 lakh young people in 38 sectors spanning 36 states and 732 districts by December 7, 2025. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship’s update reveals a program that’s reshaping career prospects nationwide.
Since April 2024, focus areas including IT, aviation, agriculture, rubber, leather, and hospitality have skilled over 7.5 lakh in 34 states and 670 districts. From humble origins, the scheme has matured into a dynamic, industry-aligned powerhouse through successive phases.
Anticipating future needs, 77 courses and 102 innovative roles target AI, Industry 4.0, eco-jobs, and digital realms. More than 15,500 institutions drive delivery, with 7,000+ in academic settings and ITIs, now bolstered by IITs, IIMs, NITs, and PSUs.
Funding matches ambition: Rs 1,652.89 crore spent April 2024–September 2025; Rs 200 crore for elite trainers and assessors certified by NCVET and hosted on SIDH. By November 2025, 34,505 trainers and 13,844 assessors were qualified.
ITIs exemplify growth: 14,682 from 9,977 since 2014 (+4,605), enrollments over 14 lakh from 9.5 lakh. NSTIs at 33 (from 25), ITOTs at 120 (from 11), plus 17,475 seats. PMKVY 4.0 heralds an era of skilled manpower, propelling India towards self-sufficient prosperity.
