Pushing the envelope on sustainable transport, Maruti Suzuki India revealed it transported over 585,000 vehicles by rail in 2025—an 18% leap from last year. This feat cements its role in revolutionizing auto logistics.
Rail share has ballooned from 5.1% in 2016 to 26% now, curbing CO2, easing import bills, and clearing roads. MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi described it as an all-time high, driven by the launch of India’s largest plant-side rail facility at Manesar and breakthrough shipments to Kashmir via the record-setting Chenab Bridge.
Maruti targets 35% rail usage by 2030-31, bolstering national green goals. From FY 2014-15, its hub-and-spoke ops have delivered 28 lakh+ vehicles to 600+ destinations across 22 hubs.
Boasting 45+ specialized flexi-deck rakes (260 cars/trip), Gujarat and Manesar handled 53% of this year’s rail volume. The ‘Circular Mobility’ framework addresses full-lifecycle emissions, from inception to disposal.
‘Our focus remains on slashing carbon across every vehicle stage,’ Takeuchi noted, with rail emerging as the optimal choice for efficiency and ecology.
