Windows 11 users are set to receive a significant upgrade with the introduction of new AI features via Copilot. This update includes the Copilot Vision tool, which allows the operating system to scan and analyze content visible on the screen, offering enhanced interaction and information retrieval. The tool provides users with the ability to interact with the content and ask questions about what is displayed, reducing the need for external applications or processes to perform similar tasks.
The new features are scheduled for a phased release, expanding functionality across the platform. Copilot Vision will be integrated into the existing Copilot application, enabling advanced content analysis. The capabilities will extend to performing PC tasks such as image enhancement, removing the need for external image optimizers.
Microsoft’s own research indicates that AI is becoming an integral part of daily life, with substantial usage reported for both professional and personal applications. In response, the new features are designed to streamline common PC activities, making them more intuitive and efficient.
Copilot Plus PC users, specifically those using Snapdragon-powered devices, will find the AI agent directly accessible through the Settings app. Furthermore, the ‘Click to Do’ preview feature will enable users to perform actions such as summarizing text and improving reading comprehension. Other improvements include an AI-driven sticker generator in Paint, an object selection tool for more detailed image editing, an AI-powered lighting option in Photos, and a precise screenshot tool.
These features will be available starting in August, alongside general updates to the operating system, including a color picker in the Snipping Tool and an automated system to address unexpected restarts.
