Congress legislator from Ramanujgunja in Balrampur district Brihaspat Singh has courted controversy by asking people to beat officials who “cheat” farmers with shoes.
Such officials must be sent to jail, he stated in a public meeting held at Balrampur.
“Farmers provide us with food. If any official tries cheating them then they should face investigation and should be sent to jail. They must be thrashed with shoes,” the MLA said.
He was addressing the ration card distribution programme held at Balrampur.
Targeting bank officials Singh claimed that bank officials fraudulently take signatures of farmers on loan-related papers even if the farmers did not apply for loans. And now these officials are sending notices to farmers.
Later he told reporters that it was a very serious issue and he had spoken to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel about this.
Notably, few days back state cabinet Minister Amarjeet Bhagat and state excise minister Kawasi Lakhma had landed into controversy after making controversial statements.
Lakhma was caught on tape advising political aspirants to hold the Collector and SPs by collar if they wanted to make big in politics. While, Bhagat in an over enthusiasm to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi went on to suggest that Chandrayan-2, the moon landing mission of ISRO, could not achieved the desired success as Modi had went to launch it.
