Journalist Christiane Amanpour stated {that a} scheduled interview with Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi was scrapped after he insisted that the veteran anchor put on a hijab, which has been the main target of huge protests within the Iran for the previous one week.

Christiane Amanpour, chief worldwide anchor of CNN, stated that as she was prepared for the interview of the Iranian President, his aide insisted that she should cowl her hair.

“I politely declined. We’re in New York, the place there isn’t a legislation or custom relating to headscarves,” British-Iranian journalist wrote on Twitter.

“I stated that I could not conform to this unprecedented and sudden situation,” she added in a collection of tweets.

Together with the tweets Amanpour posted an image of herself, with no hijab, sitting in entrance of an empty chair the place Iranian President Raisi was presupposed to be for the interview.
