‘Wherever such folks insult Hinduism…’: Proper-wing group after comic Vir Das’ present cancelled in Bengaluru | Information

Bengaluru: Following the grievance by right-wing group Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi, slapstick comedian Vir Das’ present scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on Thursday was cancelled on the final minute. The Hindu right-wing outfit protested in opposition to the present, alleging that it’s going to harm Hindu spiritual sentiments and current India in a nasty mild. Welcoming the cancellation of the present, Hindu Janajagruthi Samithi spokesperson Mohan Gowda stated the comic has insulted India, its ladies and the Hindu faith. “We had lodged a grievance with the Vyalikawal police station in opposition to the present. Due to agitation by the Hindu organisations, the present has been cancelled. Wherever such folks insult Hinduism within the title of comedy, it must be boycotted”, Gowda stated in a press release. 

Comic Vir Das confronted an enormous backlash within the nation for his monologue ‘I come from two Indias’ within the US final yr for allegedly defaming India.

Taking to Instagram, stand-up comedian Vir Das wrote, “Hey of us. As a result of unavoidable circumstances, we’re pushing the Bengaluru present. New particulars and dates quickly. Sorry for the inconvenience.”


The present was scheduled for five.30 pm on the Chowdaiah Memorial Corridor in Malleswaram. The organiser of the occasion YOSN Innovation stated in a press release that the occasion has been cancelled. “As a result of unavoidable circumstances, the stand-up comedy present of Vir Das stands cancelled, which was scheduled on November 11, 2022, on the Chowdaiah Memorial Corridor,” YOSN Innovation stated in its letter to the Chowdaiah Memorial Corridor authorities.
