The Bangladesh Meteorological Department reported that the earthquake occurred at 12:25 PM. The epicenter was identified in Mandalay, Myanmar. The distance between Dhaka and the earthquake’s center was measured at 597 kilometers. The earthquake is considered a major seismic event. The USGS noted that the quake’s origin was 16 kilometers north-northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar, at a depth of 10 kilometers, leading to the tremors being felt throughout Bangladesh.
