The epicenter was situated in Myanmar, close to the Bangladesh border. Authorities have not yet confirmed any injuries or fatalities. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department reported that the earthquake occurred at 12:25 PM. The epicenter was identified in Mandalay, Myanmar. The distance between Dhaka and the earthquake’s center was measured at 597 kilometers. The earthquake is considered a major seismic event. The USGS noted that the quake’s origin was 16 kilometers north-northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar, at a depth of 10 kilometers, leading to the tremors being felt throughout Bangladesh.
