AAP leader Manish Sisodia released from Tihar Jail, served 17 months imprisonment, will go to meet CM Kejriwal’s family

New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has got bail from the Supreme Court today and he has been released from Tihar Jail after 17 months. He was in jail in the case of corruption and money laundering related to the alleged scam in the excise policy. It is being told that after his release, he will first go to CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house and meet his family members.

In the Supreme Court, a bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan said that Sisodia has been in custody for 17 months and the hearing of the case has not started yet, due to which he has been deprived of the right to a speedy trial. The bench also said that it would not be right to send Manish Sisodia to the lower court for bail in these cases.

The Supreme Court said that the time has come for the lower courts and the High Court to understand that bail is the rule and jail is the exception. The bench directed Sisodia to be released on a personal bond of Rs 10 lakh and two sureties of the same amount.

Let us tell you that former Delhi Deputy CM Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on 26 February 2023. He was accused of alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. At the same time, the ED arrested him on 9 March 2023 in a money laundering case.

The Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to AAP leader Manish Sisodia has been termed as a ‘victory of truth’. Along with this, the party expressed hope that other AAP leaders imprisoned in jail will also get justice.
