NCERT Textbook Changes 2024: The National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) has made several amendments in the syllabus. Many things have been removed and many things have been included in the political science book of class 12. Ayodhya’s ‘Babri Masjid’ has been written as ‘Teen Gumbad Dhaancha’, the word Azad Pakistan has been replaced with Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir has also been mentioned.
Azad Kashmir was removed and changed to PoJK (NCERT Textbook Changes 2024)
The term ‘Azad Kashmir’ has been removed from the Politics in India after Independence textbook. The term ‘Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir’ has been added in its place. Earlier, on page number 119 of the book, it was said that India claims it to be under illegal occupation and Pakistan calls it Azad Kashmir. Now, the book says, “This Indian territory is under the occupation of Pakistan, which is called Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).”
What is mentioned about the India and China border?
In a political science book, a chapter titled ‘India’s border situation with China’ had earlier said that military conflict over the border dispute between the two countries has put an end to hope. Now it has been changed and the word military conflict has been removed. The sentence says, “China’s intrusion on the Indian border has put an end to hope.
Babri Masjid changed the Gujarat riots
Earlier, the book said that most states have equal powers, but some states, the Northeast and Jammu and Kashmir have been given special provisions. Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, was removed in August 2019. The book now says that Article 370 has been removed from Jammu and Kashmir by the President. In the book, instead of Gujarat riots, ‘anti-Muslim riots’ have been written and Babri Masjid has been described as a ‘3 dome structure’.

NCERT director Dinesh Prasad Saklani has rejected the allegations of saffronisation of school curriculum. He says that references to Gujarat riots and Babri Masjid have been changed in the textbooks because reading about riots can create violent and depressed citizens.
