Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, a participant in the Axiom Mission 4 and the first Indian aboard the International Space Station (ISS), has shared his excitement about the scientific research being conducted, with a special focus on the projects spearheaded by Indian scientists. Shukla noted his busy schedule with research activities. In a conversation with Axiom Space’s Chief Scientist, Dr. Lucie Low, he provided an overview of the ongoing research and advancements, particularly the Indian-led projects. Shukla emphasized the ISS’s role as a vital research and innovation center, pointing out how his mission provides new opportunities for Indian researchers. Research areas include stem cell studies, seed growth under microgravity conditions, and evaluations of astronaut cognitive loads. A noteworthy project involves stem cells, where scientists are investigating whether supplements can aid in quicker recovery, growth, or injury repair. Group Captain Shukla takes pride in his role as a link between researchers and the ISS. The Ax-4 crew, launched on June 25, is anticipated to spend up to 14 days on the ISS.
