India and Bahrain are charting a robust course for enhanced bilateral and naval synergy. Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti’s February 10 meeting with Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa at Rifa Palace marked a pivotal moment in defense diplomacy. As Deputy Chief of Naval Staff and Bahrain’s Prime Minister-Deputy Supreme Commander respectively, they explored avenues to fortify ties.
The Indian Navy detailed discussions on intelligence fusion, joint maneuvers, capability augmentation, and next-gen warfare strategies – cornerstones for maritime stability.
Building on this, S. Jaishankar’s recent parley with Al Zayani preceded a major US-led minerals forum. The Indian Embassy’s January Republic Day event was a resounding success, gathering 400+ luminaries including Al Zayani. From CMF brass and business moguls to chamber officials, India Society reps, honored NRIs, and bilateral communities, the turnout was impressive.
The program shone with an Indo-Bahrain art exhibit, rapper Hussam Asim’s performance, and Uttarakhand Society’s flute homage to ‘Vande Mataram’ on its 150th year.
Echoing prior commitments, the November High Joint Commission in Delhi reviewed trade booms, security enhancements, defense pacts, health innovations, cultural bridges, and people-centric initiatives. Forward-looking talks touched space, fintech, and cybersecurity. Jaishankar foresaw stronger India-GCC bonds via Bahrain’s presidency and lauded support for Indians in Bahrain.
