Canadian authorities have arrested Inderjit Singh Gosal, a key figure associated with Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), and charged him with firearm-related offenses. The arrest took place in Ottawa. This incident comes soon after a meeting between the National Security Advisors of India and Canada, Ajit Doval and Nathalie Drouin, respectively. They discussed collaborative strategies to bolster bilateral ties, with a focus on counter-terrorism and combating transnational crime. Gosal, who is 36 years old, is regarded as a significant organizer for SFJ in Canada after the death of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June 2023. He was previously charged in November regarding an incident at a Hindu temple in the GTA. Police in Canada had also alerted Gosal of threats to his life in August 2022. Pannun reported that Canadian authorities had issued a “duty to warn” notice to Gosal. Despite acknowledging threats to his safety from Canadian officials, Gosal has reaffirmed his allegiance to the Khalistani session plan for Punjab.
