Beijing’s BRICS Sherpa Ma Zhaoxu, also Vice Foreign Minister, attended the opening Sherpa consultation for 2026 in New Delhi, hosted by India.
In his address, Ma spotlighted President Xi Jinping’s push for elevated Greater BRICS cooperation. He introduced the strategic five-pillar model – encompassing peace, innovation, eco-friendly progress, justice, and cultural exchanges – that defines BRICS’ trajectory ahead.
China is eager to work alongside chair India, fellow members, and partners to uphold steadfast positions, advance concrete partnerships, improve coordination frameworks, reinforce multilateralism, uphold international equity and justice, and fuel the momentum of Greater BRICS collaboration.
The session involved thorough deliberations on yearly priorities and flagship activities, alongside launching the official prep phase for the 18th BRICS Summit.
This pivotal event reinforces BRICS as a cornerstone of South-South cooperation, poised to tackle pressing global challenges through unity and innovation.
