Premier Li Qiang, key figure in the CPC Central Committee’s Standing Committee, led a symposium in Beijing on January 20 with a cross-section of experts, business tycoons, and representatives spanning education, science, culture, health, and sports. Discussions zeroed in on feedback for the proposed government work report and the 15th Five-Year Plan outline.
There was broad agreement that the bygone year stood out for its trials and triumphs. Battling a fraught global landscape, China deployed hands-on initiatives to anchor economic stability, realign structures, and elevate living standards. Developmental drivers multiplied, flows of commerce energized, and market faith reached new heights.
Sector-specific suggestions flowed freely, targeting enhancements in economic and social spheres for the year ahead and the full plan duration. Li Qiang absorbed the deliberations before outlining the road ahead.
‘Launching into the 15th Five-Year Plan, we face entrenched complexities and instabilities externally, with unpredictabilities on the rise,’ he stated. ‘Importantly, the foundational supports and upward trajectory of China’s economy persist, with ample scope for superior development.’
This symposium exemplifies Beijing’s emphasis on stakeholder involvement in national planning, blending elite insights with policy formulation. It positions China to tackle forthcoming challenges head-on, harnessing its inherent strengths for a future defined by high-quality growth and societal progress.
