The Taiwanese MND reported that 29 PLA aircraft sorties and 6 PLAN vessels were detected in the vicinity of Taiwan on Friday. Details shared on X revealed that 17 of these aircraft crossed the median line, entering various sectors of Taiwan’s ADIZ. The MND confirmed it was closely watching the situation and taking appropriate measures. This event is part of a broader trend of heightened Chinese military presence around Taiwan, which has been independently governed since 1949 but claimed by China. Amidst these developments, President Lai Ching-te has instructed the Taiwanese military to enhance its surveillance capabilities. He pointed out that the situation in West Asia has not led to a decrease in Chinese pressure and highlighted the recent activity of Chinese aircraft carriers. The President stressed the need for constant communication with allies and monitoring of the region’s security situation, especially given the increased Force Protection Condition level set by the United States Indo-Pacific Command.
